Excellent dinner and value. We went to Mario’s for dinner tonight. I was a little concerned when we walked in with the 70s Italian decor with the mismatched steakhouse red leather booths, but settled in with the extensive menu. We ordered the spicy Maryland crab soup as one of our sides. The spicy tomato broth was filled with crab and lots of veggies, and was served with amazing hot homemade bread. Wish we were offered more of the bread! I had the seafood platter, with a crabcake, scallops and shrimp with rice. The seafood was done perfectly, although I would have liked some sort of aioli for the crabcake instead of tartar sauce. The rice was interesting with house marinara sauce as if it was pasta. My husband was pleased with his chicken limon, he had not seen it on an Italian menu in some time and really enjoyed how the pasta absorbed the flavors in the sauce. The cannoli was excellent and creamy, and seemed homemade. Service was good but the waitress could have used more training in the menu, she did not know all of the menu items. Only 2 beers on tap was odd, but the Yuengling lager was a good choice. Will definitely recommend to anyone staying in the Chambersburg area!
We walked in and were brought to the back of the restraunt it smelled heavily of mold and mildew we were never seen except for being seated given menus and were ready to order but no one ever came to see our table we waited 15 minuets and then got up and left. They paid full attention to the larger groups of people its all about money not customer service I will never be back can I give this a zero star?
Good Stop off I 81. Mario’sChambersburg, Pa.My DS and I were traveling on Interstate 81 in Pennsylvania and we got off (I think it was exit 14) to grab a bite to eat. They had some of the usual offerings like Cracker Barrel and Applebee’s but we opted for Mario’s. The place offers booth or table seating and appeared clean. They start you with hot bread (you can never go wrong with hot Italian bread). Our salads (which were included with the meal) had fresh, crisp lettuce and bocconcini (mozzarella balls), it was a nice salad. DS ordered the lasagna which was loaded with meat. Overall she enjoyed the meal but thought the sauce was uninspiring. You can ditto that thought process for my baked ravoli. Service was friendly. So if in the area would I stop again. Yes, it’s a much better option then the chains.
Local oasis in a chain restaurant desert. Tried the liver special with pasta in a marsala sauce and the pepperoni pizza- both were awesome! The baked pasta dishes coming out of the kitchen looked amazing – can’t wait to come back.19 Aug, 2012Great local spot. Awesome food! Best Italian place in area. Try the Spicy Crab Soup! The fresh baked bread is brought fresh and hot from the oven to your table!
Good Salads, and the rest looked good!. I had a grilled chicken salad, my wife had a Chef’s Salad. The couple we were with split a personal pizza and a sandwich, both of which looked very good. The salads were big, and fresh. We will will be going back again to further check out what’s available.
Scallops with pasta and red sauce was very good. Salad was good. The wait staff was friendly.
