Was really hoping for better. We went there when it first opened for my birthday with a couple of friends. The place looked really nice and the service wasn’t bad. The hibachi was REALLY good however the sushi wasn’t that great at all…I recommend that if you go just stick to the hibachi…
A+++. Deffianly my favorite sushi place in NEPA. 15.95 all you can eat lunch special GREAT sushi. Good atmosphere and fast service. Full bar. Strrongly reccomend.
Mediocre food for the price. Bad atmosphere. Green lights in the overheads at the tables. Hibachi bar is not secluded – at all. So, if you’re looking for a relaxing dinner where you will not have to scream to communicate with your company – you won’t get it here. 20 minutes for a soda refill.
Staff. I went there with a few friends after we had class. Normally we go there on Tuesday nights and the staff is very friendly and the food is good. The last time we went though, we sat at the bar to get the drink specials. Not only did the bartender argue about what they were (she realized she was wrong, but didn’t apologize), but then did not know how to make them. She was very rude and not welcoming. Then when we got our order it was wrong. The bartender never asked us if we wanted another drink (which would have benefited her, because we would have ordered another one). I liked this place before last night. We will probably give this place another try, but if a similar incident happens, then we will not be going back and we will spread the word that the staff is rude.
Love it. My kids loves it.. nice restaurant .
Good. Had much fun tonight…….. definitely suggest it!!!!
Fire, fun and fantastic food, a culinary victory for Northeastern Pennsylvania. It is rare to have a new restaurant open and find that everything from the service, to the presentation, and the taste of the food is done perfectly. Masaru, which means victory in Japanese, is just such a restaurant specializing in hibachi style cooking and sushi. Only open two weeks, this place is turning heads and will certainly become a welcome addition to the NEPA food scene. After three visits, it’s unanimous. The dinning experience is exceptional. The first visit consisted of hibachi steak with noodles and mixed vegetables, hibachi vegetables with fried rice, and two orders from the Makimono sushi platter. The sweet potato tempura and cucumber avocado sushi roll. The second visit was two orders from the basic sushi roll menu, the spider roll and the lobster roll, and the third was spicy tuna roll. A glass of Pinot Noir or a frosty mug of Sapporo beer from Japan goes perfectly with any of these entrees. The steak, fillet medallions cooked to a perfect medium rare and oh so tender. The noodles tasty and the mixed vegetables cooked al dente. The hibachi vegetables and fried rice was great. The sweet potato tempura was wonderful. The sweetness of the potato and saltiness of the soy sauce was a great combination. The avocado roll was fresh, crisp with a crunch in every bite. The spider roll, a juicy and plump soft shell crab cooked tempura style, oh so good. The lobster roll, lobster goodness at it’s best. Both served as a work of art worthy of display on the wall in a fine museum. The spicy tuna roll, OMG, fresh tuna cut and rolled with hint of wasabi and just the right amount of heat and bite in the mouth. If you are a fan of fine Japanese cuisine then this is the place for you. The owners have obviously found the winning combination for a great dinning experience that is rivaled by very few. Get here early and often as once the word gets out you will be hard pressed to get a table without reservations. Full hibachi style dinner, quick appetizer, or just sushi, any way you slice it this restaurant will soon be one of your favorites.
