Taste of College :). I’d almost had a spazz-attack after driving past the Pittsburgh location of Bob’s, wondering, hoping and praying that it was an extended division of the highly beloved Slippery Rock joint. It felt like Christmas when I stepped inside and order my usual, the gaint Super sub. I happily developed love handles in college living off Bob’s Subs (and it’s conjoined bakery, sadly has closed by now) as my apartment was positioned directly across the street. Almost every other day, Bob’s was incorporated into my daily meals – I never grew tired of the fresh taste of the veggies, the meats, the toastiness of the practically-perfect Cellone’s bun it was served on. Sub buns are an issue for me because I can’t stand when it’s so thick and dense and you have a mouthful of bread with very little filler to balance it out. Bob’s buns are fluffy-but-thin and toasted to perfection. One never really needs to worry about carb-overload. I’m extremely pleased to say the Pittsburgh location has done a fantastic job carrying on the Bob’s Sub legacy, as 12 years ago feels like yesterday as I’m biting into my giant Super. I’m also pleased to have my gym membership to keep the love handles at bay.
Great Food!. I absolutely love this place. Great lunch for those that work downtown. It gets a little crowded at lunchtime (~10 min wait), but it is worth the wait. Food is fresh, employees are very nice, dining area is clean. Overall great experience.P.S. my wife is a Clarion alum and loves the Pittsburgh shop, too. She misses the Clarion Cheese Sandwich, but it’s to the point now that I’m not allowed to go without her.
Great Sub. I had heard about this place from a colleague who attended Clarion University. I went with the medium Spicy Italian and I wasn’t disappointed. The toasted bread was fresh and the entire sandwich very flavorful. The decor was welcoming including two large flat screen tv’s to catch up on the prior night’s NFL draft. There was also old pictures on the wall of Point Park University. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. My only suggestion would be to replace the picnic benches with Pub tables. There are not enough places to sit down with the over sized tables. I will be back.
