Went and tried this last night for the first time! I have to say I was very pleased. I had the pepper steak and my husband had the general tos. It was a nice setting and all of the waitress and waiters worked together.

Not for me!. I ordered the chicken with broccoli and general tso’s chicken and let me tell you, it wasnt very good. The general tso’s chicken was too sweet and i felt sick after only eating two pieces. The chicken with broccolli had no taste whatsoever. Even the fried rice was terrible! I dont even know how this place stays business. Will NEVER come here again.

Rude Owners. We’ve been going to the Chinatown Inn for 20 years. The food is always delicious. Waitstaff is always courteous, but sometimes they make you feel rushed. Today one at our table was not feeling well and couldn’t eat, so they stayed for the company. All of a sudden, the owners made the waitress come up to us and tell us that they have a rule that anyone that sits, they need to spend a minimum of $5. The waitress didn’t charge us but we felt so put out. We could see the head waitress giving us stares from across the room. There is nothing posted on the door, nor in the menu that everyone must spend a minimum of $5. Its a wonder with how they treat people, how they’ve managed to stay open for so long. After 20 years, we will never be back!!!!

Unprofessional owners. This restaurant came with a local’s recommendation. The food was excellent, I have to say, but the whole experience was ruined by the unprofessional behavior of the owners. I don’t know what exactly was going on but one of the corner tables was fully occupied by family members who appeared to be hanging around in the restaurant baby-sitting, along with at least two of the owners. They just let the kids run around unchecked, one of which persistently annoyed the patrons and, when reined in, screamed like a banshee. The coupe de grace came later in the meal. This place also does to-go, so the phone rings and people place their orders. The owner was in the kitchen, the phone rings, she comes running out and along the length of the restaurant to answer the phone clutching a half-eaten chicken leg in her hand. Seriously!! Then proceeds to answer the phone and take the to-go order with her moth full of same. I have never seen anything like it.

VERY BEST CHINESE FOOD IN THE BURGH

Used to be good………. ……………..but not anymore. I’ve worked downtown for 20+ years and the Chinatown used to be the best Chinese food in the city without question. The food was always fresh and tasty and of high quality. I’ve only gone to the restaurant a few times in the past year and the food has really deteriorated. Like another reviewer mentioned, the fried rice is hard (how long is this stuff sitting around in the kitchen??), eggrolls are mushy inside, veggies aren’t fresh. The food lacks flavor as well. I don’t think I’ll be going back, which is unfortunate because I love Chinese food. There are no good Chinese restaurants left downtown, sadly.

Can’t wait 40 minutes for food at lunch HOUR. I went there figuring Chinese food is usually served quickly. Ordered lunch around 11:40. At 12:10 the waitress went to check on the food and did not return. At 12:15 I told the hostess I was going to have to get the food to go. She said she would check on it but didn’t return. At 12:20 lunch arrived with the excuse that the kitchen is busy. It wasn’t too busy to get the meals out for 3 tables near me who arrived after me, including a table of 6 versus my table of 2. Wonton soup was good. Chicken and shrimp lo mein average.
