Traditional and honest old world Greek experience. When they’re slow they’ll hollah at passer byers. When you’re there you’re treated well. The people who work there speak Greek. The owner used to be the personal pastry chef for Jackie Onassis. This man has seen some history. The food is pretty good. I try to come back when I’m in the area.
I went here yesterday with my boyfriend. It was a hot day on the 4th of July so it was pretty crowded. We waited 30 mins before our waiter came back to place our order. At this point we were already contemplating leaving because the wait time was so long and we were hungry. We noticed that only one table in the restaurant had their food, so we figured the wait time would be very long. The waiter then brought us our salads and to my surprise there were a few fruit flies in my salad. Without apologizing, he immediately gave me a new salad that had EVEN MORE FRUIT FLIES in it! My boyfriend went up to pay for the salads out of courtesy and cancelled our orders. At this point a different waiter came over and apologized that since it was a hot day they had to keep the doors open. He offered another salad but I didn’t want a third bug infested salad. Then our original waiter came back and I told him the second salad had even more bugs. He told me they aren’t bugs they are spices. I told him, yes they are small and could be confused as spices but they have wings are in fact bugs! He didn’t say anything and just walked away! No apologies at all from our original waiter. By that point we had paid for our salads but I wish we would have just walked out sooner. I understand it was a hot day and things happen, but two salads with fruit flies and no apology from our waiter is not acceptable. Rude and unprofessional service, not returning. Check your salad before eating…
What an odd place! We were brought Hommus, salad and roasted potatoes as our starter, eventhough we did not ask for these. When we ordered our main course, the waiter asked what we like with our salad and that the Potatoes with the roast lamb are very good. We assumed this was part of the main course. Ended up paying over $60 for something that should have been less than 30. The food was not good. The vegetables were stewed until they were grey. The receipt was not itemized. Worst than what you might see on Kitchen Nightmare.
Great Restaurant. This was the best Greek restaurant I have ever dined at. The owner / chef was quite helpful and the service was excellent. Been there for 40 years and such a history. Advertised as home made and it was. Dinner was a great meal before a winning Pitt game.Thank you
First time here- came at 6pm before Opera. Good time to come- gets busy at 6:30pm. festive, pleasant service. Fish special was delicious. Appetizer platter very good. We will be back.
Used to be good. Watery and somewhat rotten salad. Disgusting lamb shank. The lemon chicken soup was good. But, everything else was absolutely revolting. We should have sent it all back but we never have the guts to do so. We’ve been to Christos in past years but clearly it has gone WAY down hill. I wouldn’t eat there again even if it was free.
Shameful, microwaved fake lamb meat?! Gross. Should have left when they brought out the worst hummus I’ve ever eaten
