WAS my favorite place to eat in the city.
My new obsession. Just discovered this place a few weeks ago and it is now my favorite place to eat downtown. Can’t get over how delicious this is! The staff is super friendly and very helpful if you have questions. The only downside is that it’s pretty pricey – I get the chicken and wheat rice with 2-3 sides and it costs 12 dollars. I do, however, find the quality of the food to be worth every penny! They also give you enough food for two people, so if you can find someone else to share with – the price is really reasonable.It’s a real bummer that they are also supposedly being forced out to expand the 7-11 next door. Nom. In town for business and apparently stopped in early when I was told there was not yet a line which sometimes stretches out the door and down the block. The food was brilliant, inexpensive for the amount, and very fresh.What a great way to avoid the usual fare and fill me up before my flight home this afternoon. Yum!
Great food with unreliable operation. This is a great place for lunch. The food is very good and tasty, even though the prices are not exactly cheap for what is served. Anyway, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to try something good downtown. The bad side is that Josh tries to keep the operating costs too close to its demand, to the point that everyday he runs out of food too early. I was there yesterday and by 12:30 he ran out of everything… He has also opened a new location in the Ross Park Mall and, guess what, he’s also been running out of food too early there. The good side is that the food is always fresh, but the bad side is that I never know when I’ll find lunch there.
I went here today and the guy lied and said they ran out of chicken! It was 12:15! I bought a cold plate and walked over to Au Bon pain to put chicken on top of my salad! I used to love this place but the reviews are right. Since the owner hasn’t come back they’re running this place into the ground. I will not return. I wouldn’t be surprised if this place goes out of business soon.
Portions Smaller, Quality Slipping.. This is one of my favorite places for lunch downtown. Although , the past two visits the chicken is dry, barely edible and the portion sizes have been cut in half. For $9 for a chicken plate,I’d expect to receive a full container of food, especially since half is salad! Hope they get it together.. I really do like this place.
Portions have gotten smaller!. I was very disappointed in my experience at Istanbul Grille today. The owner has not been there the last few times I’ve gone, and the portions served have turned very, very small!!!! I got slightly more than a tablespoon of each side item that I ordered, not to mention that the server kept trying to convince me to try more foods, and then charged me extra for anything else that I agreed to try. 7 bucks for a lunch that definitely did NOT feel me up! When the owner used to be there, the portions were much bigger and the food was better. Now that he’s gone and service has gotten bad, I definitely would NOT recommend this place anymore.
