I like it here. The atmosphere is nice, and I like the open windows above the street. You can get half orders of the pasta which is nice for those without a huge appetite.I’ve pretty much always had good food everytime I’ve been here. They service has been pretty solid too. I’d say it’s a good value. It’s not the best thing in the world obviously, but it’s about what you would expect, and the food has always been fresh and tasty. They change menus a bit depending on what’s fresh and I like that – so they are staying on my list.

Plus: Food was great as confirmed by other reviews here. Negatives: Noise level was so high I could barely hear anyone else at my table, including our server. Temperature inside the restaurant was warm and muggy, which was not a surprise since they had all the windows (garage door style) open on this very muggy day. Service was slow. When I called a few days prior to our visit they confirmed they had valet parking after 6 PM. They neglected to tell us they don’t offer valet parking at all on Mondays. Found this out last minute so we had to scramble to find alternate parking nearby. Not a problem if you know the downtown area, but we didn’t. Won’t be going back.

Food looked wonderful on the menu but of which I cannot say good or bad. Doesn’t take reservations and arriving with seniors who are handicapped is a bad idea. I suspect it’s good with an hour wait. Not gonna happen with kids and seniors. Hipsters…it’s all yours.

Wonderful dining experience. I sat at the bar with a friend and got fantastic service from the bartender, Mike. His recommendation was to split a charcuterie board and a pizza and go from there. Try the Tartufo with an extra farm egg… It is unreal. Don’t miss desserts as this restaurant is one of the few in Pittsburgh that has a pastry chef.In all, a casual, first-class experience.

Nice House Cured Meats and Pizza. The house cured meats are a great starter. We split a couple of pizzas, the Margherita, Clams, Wood Roasted Veggie. They all were good. Service was good for a place that had a wait list. Tried No Wait and it did not work but managed to get in relative short order.10 Nov, 2014Great Waitress…Good Dinner. Our Waitress was outstanding. Obviously she cares, is well trained and is very knowledgable about how to serve. Mezzo is so lucky to have her. The entire staff seemed to be well trained and work well together. The bus help stopped by to pour water and clear plates when we were finished. Our waitress was able to answer some questions and added some very good info on several items were asked about. The restaurant is very nice with a large front window and brick walls. My one complaint are the tables. Just over six foot tall and could not sit with my legs under the tables…large base on the floor is raised and if you pull you seat to the table you have to put your feet on the base and then my legs would hit the bottom of the table because of the 3 inch wood piece the table top sits on. So if you are taller it is uncomfortable! Yet my wife also said it was uncomfortable for some that is five foot four inches tall. The food we ordered was very good. We started with the PA Cheese Board that came with some apple butter and sweetened pecans. The cheeses were all aged and were a great start. The Pistachio and Porchetta with Arugula pizza was so tasty. The foundation is a sweet pistachio pesto that has some thin slices of porchetta and lots of arugula. A nice combo of sweet, salt and some acid. There are some other interesting options or you can just get a Margherita pizza. The menu has salads, panini, and pasta. We decided to try some of the Italian wines by the glass with the 3oz. pours. Our waitress was able to assist with a description of the wines, too.We received Chocolate Bocce cookies after our meal that were Sooo Goooood!A real nice dinner with an outstanding waitress!

This place is fantastic. Great menu, great service and a very cool vibe about this place. I will come back to this place.

The hubs and I found ourselves here Saturday evening. My feelings are a bit mixed. I think I get the farmhouse feel in that some of the ingredients are farm to table. But I’m not sure if this is a dinner spot or a grazing spot if comfortable enough to share with your dining companions. After trying to define what we should accomplish, we settled on wine with olives to start. Then we split a panini and a half portion of shrimp fra diavolo for our main course. Split an excellent dessert too. On the plus side, it’s fantastic to be able to split a dish without any awkwardness and I think the next visit will find me better prepared. Btw, the pizza coming out onto the tables looked yummy as well as the cheese plates. The perfect spot to come a-grazing I think. Service rates a 10. And holy cow those chocolate cookies with the check were worth the trip!
