I went to the Omni Lobby for Afternoon Tea. (When we booked it and asked for High Tea the woman told me they don’t do High Tea. She must not have read the menu because it explains what High Tea is.. lolAtmosphere- The tables are in the lobby of the Omni William Penn Hotel. This hotel is 100 years old this year over the years. It was the splendor then and it still shouts Luxury. From the massive chandeliers to the marble floors. The table was set for us when we arrived (Missing a few things)Food- Teas we picked Victorian – Blue Eyes, Peppermint and Earl Grey ( If we had picked the Royal tea it would have come with a Mimosa or cocktail . ) Tea was served first without milk (had to ask for it) All teas smelled and tasted wonderful. Sandwiches ( 3 small pieces) came on nicely arranged plate. Ham with mustard was good. The wrap with goat cheese (couldn’t find the cheese) and pickled artichoke was very plain. There were not enough pieces for a tea plate . At this point we noticed there were no napkins (had to ask for them) The 3 tier plate came with 2 small scones (1 blueberry and one plain) each for us warm and delicious ( we had to ask for cream and preserves after several.minutes waiting for waiter to return) Scones were warm so we ate thise first. I I do not know what kind of cream they served with the scones but it resembled sour cream rather than clotted cream. Yuk. Thankfully the scones were delicious. The middle layer of tier each of us had a sorry excuse for a fruit kabob (half a small strawberry, one blackberry and 2 blueberries) Really? I would be embarrassed if I were the chef to put that out on a tier. At least we had 3 of these tiny toothpicks of fruit on our tier. It would have looked pretty funny with just 2. The top had a few of really gorgeous desserts. There was a cookie tart ( with marscapone cheese drop and the freshest raspberry and a blueberry on top. Very lovely. Also was a tiny chocolate cup that looked like a tulip filled with amaretto cream and almonds on top- Perfect flavours together. I saved the macaroon for last because I love macaroons . Well I bit into it and had to spit it out. The chef ruined a beautiful pastry with anise. The result left me disappointed.Service – We had a very personable server named Pilar. He was very nice but did not realize he missed so much.Impression- I would not return for this tea again. It is not worth the price especially with that crappy cream for the scones and sorry excuses for fruit kabobs.

Terrific walleye dinner and spicy gumbo. Far superior to typical hotel dining. Old school atmosphere.
