Great Value. Great food, fantastic value for your money. Only negative is that instead of Naan the give you stale pita bread.Other than that, it’s amazing food.

Great Indian Food for a Great Price. One of my favorite places to grab a quick lunch in all of downtown Pittsburgh. it’s defiantely a book that would be a tragedy to judge by it’s cover. The inside is chincy, no doubt it, but I don’t go there for the ambiance. I go there for the food and it’s a winner everytime in that regard. The menu is simple yet delicious. if you love curry, you will love this place. The chicken is not super impressive but it’s all white chicken thigh meat, and tasty, especially when you add their spicy sauce found on the tables. The food is vegan which is a plus. It feels good to know you can get a great meal at a great place that is healthy all in all. A meal here is a win, win all the way around. Plus it’s a great value. Chicken over rice and a veggy for $5. If you want all veggies you get to pick 3 over rice for the same cost…awesome. Try one of the Samosa’s if they are available when you are there. They are also very good.

Vegetarian haven. You can order three vegetable dishes for $5. Spicy and good. They use pita instead of nan (not good). Food served from steam tables. Seating is at makeshift counters. Not the cleanest place but it is family-owned, friendly and with a can of soda, a $6 downtown lunch.

Good cheap food. The food is great! The only thing that would make this place better would be fresh naan. I would be happy to pay extra for that.

Good Subcontinent cheap eats. (06/14/2011) A great gem in the middle of dahntahn. Don’t be scared off by the looks of the place, shoehorned into a wedge-shped building with a dowdy interior (green plastic and cotton-flocked tablecloths, grayed vinyl floor a la your grade school cafeteria); dining in is a little awkward (communal tables lining the walls). The food is pretty good — the dishes remind me of when I would go to my friend’s mom’s and be invited to stay for an impromptu dinner. Sree’s does vegetables better than they do meat, go vegan; the chicken breast is dry and stringy, even though it’s sauced. Had the grape leaves curry (tangy), chickpeas and potatoes (creamy gold potatoes), aromatic cauliflower. Lots of warming heat and mix of spices in the curries; sauce nicely sopped by a piece of naan (although the naan seemed commercial). Some of the vegetables obviously from a frozen, pre-prepped product (carrots, broccoli) or canned (chickpeas), but who doesn’t have those staples in their pantry; you can’t beat the price ($6 for 3 sides and rice), and it’s thoroughly satisfying.

Love it!. Inexpensive, delicious vegan food in Downtown Pittsburgh? Pinch me, I’m dreaming! Sree’s is simply wonderful! If I still worked downtown, I think I would eat lunch here every day. Well worth checking out. Mr. and Mrs. Sree are very kind people.

Great Lunch Spot!!!. The food is consistently good. Very flavorful an well priced. For between $5 – $8 you get a healthy meal with chicken rice and chic peas (or whatever they have that day). The decor leaves a bit to be desired (folding cafeteria style tables/chairs) but if you’re taking the food to go… You really can’t beat it.
