Really great Reuben and the pirogies were cooked to perfection. Definitely worth stopping in. They had several different sandwiches on the menu and were very helpful when I asked for recommendations for lunch.
There is nothing not to like about this restaurant.Service from the moment you enter, you feel at home. The staff is extremely friendly andprofessional. On one of our trips, mypartner and I asked to split a sandwich, since we wanted to try the pierogies. The server had no issues accommodating ourrequest and even brought us both a little side of cucumbers! Also, the owner is always visible making sureto check in with each table. Its obviousthat he takes pride in the product and is focused on customer satisfaction. 5out of 5.Food the food is delicious. Hands down some of the best you can finddowntown. Ive tried both the roast beefand turkey. The meat is very flavorfuland is piled high on fresh homemade bread.If you go, you must try some pierogies. Ive had the Old World (potato and onion) and New World (buffalochicken). Both are very tasty. Also, I should note that the sandwiches arebig enough to share if you want to try some of their sides. I would highly recommend the cucumbers orpotato salad. 5 out of 5.Overall this place is excellent and I would recommend it toanyone looking for a good lunch spot downtown.The price may turn some people off, but comparing it to other eateriesdowntown, it is on par. Go, you wont bedisappointed.
Best Lunch Downtown. Szmidt’s is a fabulous addition to downtown. We were drawn to lunch here based on the excellent reviews from its original location. After giving it a try.. I honestly cannot say enough wonderful things about this restaurant. It is seriously the perfect blend of great food and great people. Everyone working there is so genuinely friendly, helpful, and attentive. Their service is quick, so I’m loving that this is one spot in town that you can grab a quick bite without having to commit to an hour or more of your afternoon. Everything I’ve tried- sandwiches, pierogies, and sides- has been delicious, but my favorites are the Emily sandwich, their coleslaw, and the fresh cucumber side (cucumbers in a slightly sweet vinegar sauce). They have an interesting collection of sodas like Boylan’s and 1919 root beer. They offer carry out, which is a bonus for lunch on the go. This has become my new go-to for lunch downtown!
Probably my favorite place to eat. Owner is a great guy and opened an even better restaurant than the last.
