It’s pretty decent here. The service is pretty professional, and all the food that I’ve had thus far has been pretty good. The decor isn’t all that special, but at least the food is good. From my experience you can usually get right in and find a table without much if any wait.It is a little pricey for what it is, but at least the food and service are a plus.

Buffalo. I was in the mood for a good burger for lunch today so I took a walk out of my office, troddeled through the rain and found myself at the Sharp Edge Bistro on Penn Ave. Since I was alone, I took a seat at the bar and was promptly and professionally greeted with a smile by the bartender. I asked for an ice tea and a menu and was given a few moments to look over my choices. I decided on the buffalo burger (bison, not the wing sauce) and the bartender noticed I was through with the menu and took my order promptly. The burger came about ten minutes later and even though I originally thought, $14.50 is a bit high for a burger and fries, one bite proved that this was an exceptional burger. The bison meat is a bit more flavorful than regular ground chuck and coupled with the sauted mushrooms, provolone cheese and the slightly toasted bun it was a culinary pleasure worth dodging the raindrops for. Simply put it was delicious! I’ve been a fan of the Sharpe Edge for a number of years now but mainly for their extensive beer selection. The Sharpe Edge (this is including their sister locations) is the best place in Pittsburgh to find those hard to find but sought after Belgian beers. I can now attest that it has one of the best burgers in the Burgh.

We made reservations to celebrate a new business opportunity and despite some negative reviews we gave them a chance and enjoyed some great food, and outstanding service both from Jennifer, Andrew, and Jeremy the GM. My most profound thanks to Michael and Jeremy for a top notch, enjoyable experience! We will be back!

Like the title says, I really wanted to like this place. It seems like a good place to drink at, but I’m not a drinker. The first strike was that the mussels were 86’ed. That wouldn’t have been a big deal if I hadn’t already placed the order. I cook for a living and I always make sure the waitstaff knows what items are needing to be 86’ed. The second strike was the buffalo bites. Zero flavor. No dipping sauce served with them. I tried them because of the happy hour special. So the potato soup (soup of the day) actually tasted pretty good, however there was literally one chunk of potato in it. Then we move to the buffalo burger. I could be wrong but $14 seems a bit steep for buffalo meat mixed with sirloin. I would have preferred 100% buffalo meat, but, the burger was pretty tasty. The service on a scale of 1-5 was about a 2.5. Taking everything into consideration, we won’t be back. But if you’re into a lot of beers, give them a try during happy hour.

Great Beers, Mediocre Food. I’ve eaten here a bunch of times. Their beer selection is great so there’s nothing more to be said about that. The boneless wings, mussels and frites are all great. The rest of the menu is mediocre to poor. I go on game nights, have a few beers, eat some wings/frites and call it a night.*Edit:* We’ve been there many times and I have a great opinion of them from a service standpoint. Never had a bad experience, even when they’re really crowded. If Scott is working the bar, you’re in particularly good hands.

I had the Wild Boar Meatloaf and I can’t say I was disappointed. It was very good and had an interesting sauce around it. My only critique is that there was a flash mob? of some sort that started singing opera for most of the meal. But then again it is the cultural district!

Great pre-show option. We dined here on a Sun. prior to the theater. We weren’t expecting too much, due to some negative reviews, but we were very pleased. Our server, Rod, was the best–very engaging, attentive and made good menu suggestions. The Chicken Salad Panini was excellent; I had sweet potato fries and my husband had the regular fries (frites), both of which were very good. We would definitely come back before another show–close to the Benedum–and not nearly as pricey as other restaurants that are open on Sunday.
