You have to try the italian beef sandwich!. One of the best and underrated sammich spots in Pittsburgh. I always get the Italian beef sandwich and it is awesome. Great people to boot as well. Get a side of gravy!
Best Dogs in Downtown!. The dogs here are delicious. They take pride in being a Chicago-style shop, so do yourself a favor and go with the Chicago-style dog and you won’t be disappointed. The owner is almost always the one serving you and he is a super friendly guy. The restaurant is tucked inside of a building, so you really have to kind of look out for it, but it’s worth it!
Wonderful hot dog. I stopped in for a mid-afternoon snack and ordered a dog topped Chicago style. The pickle was perfect, the mini hot peppers were awesome, and the hot dog as a complete package was fantastic. I can’t wait to try Yovi’s other foods!
I used to go here two or three times a week with my buds when I went to culinary school downtown. Miss this spot. Clutch eats for a student on a budget.
Been going to this guy since taste of chicago on liberty. Absolutely the best.. Really the only chicago dog in town. Sure ypu got D’s in Regent Square ,same Ingrediants, but his are 10 times better! All the traditional chicago fast food items pplish sausage, tamales, and an ITalian beef to die for!
This is Chicago to a T. Friendly service, good prices, and a perfectly authentic dog right down to the steamed bun and the celery salt. The Vienna beef memorabilia and chicago sports collection doesn’t hurt either. But what impressed me the most is Yovi’s does more than just replicate a good Chicago dog, it serves up some delicious fries – a must have during a rough day. If you like the city of broad shoulders visit this oasis in the city of steel.
Not so great. I really wanted to like Yovi’s but I have to be honest – it is not very good. I specifically went downtown to eat there and while it is in Market Square it is in a clumsy location. Without the sidewalk sign I would have missed it. You have to step inside a hallway and go down some stairs. The restaurant looked clean. The owner was very friendly and the prices are not out of line. I ordered a platter which consisted of two Chicago style hotdogs with a side order of fries. I think it was about 10 dollars which included a soft drink. The generous amount of fries were tasty but the two hotdogs were bland despite the Chicago style relish (which I find hard to get in Pgh.). The hotdogs seemed to be boiled rather than grilled although I may be wrong. But they were rather tasteless. I am not optimistic about the future of Yovi’s.
