I was born and raised in Europe and live in Pittsburgh for the past 18 years and consider myself a foodie. In those years the culinary scene in Pittsburgh has gone from forgettable, old-fashioned, and boring to fairly good and creative with some true gems. The Twisted Frenchman is one of those gems. I have dined here several times.Chef Garbarino uses 21 century techniques to capture the maximum taste and essence of the products he uses. We had the 8-course tasting menu and every dish was a piece of art. Both in presentation and taste. Pure is perhaps the best way to describe the taste. Very creative indeed. The service is impeccable. The waiters are there when you need them and a great resource for all your questions. But they know when to leave you alone to enjoy the food and your company. Perfect!Prices are reasonable if you consider what you get.
I’ve written maybe 2 restaurant reviews in my life but I felt compelled to sign up for an account just to mention how great of an experience I had at the TF. The staff was excellent and the food was amazing. My husband and I tried the chef’s tasting menu (with wine pairings), which included a lot of fun surprises that I never would have ordered on my own. The food looked, smelled, and tasted incredible! Highly recommended!
Amazing cuisine, loved the local options (elysian fields lamb…YUM) This is the kind of place to have a real dining experience. You can tell the heart & soul of chef put into food. Staff will recommend excellent wine or cocktail pairing with items.
French food in pittsburgh. My wife and I decided to dine in here for our anniversary….we were not disappointed… the only sad thing was another table apparently called ahead and asked for a special tasting menu with some off menu items and it look freaking awesome. I was so jealous that I didn’t think of asking for a tasting menu. not to say that our meal wasn’t amazing because it was absolutely wonderful, but I would have loved to try more. the wines were awesome and they explained that they do a 2 times mark up so they don’t over charge people on high quality wines. our server was attentive and wonderful with answering questions about wine and food. we will be back. a special thanks to The Twisted Frenchman staff.
