Worth the drive; worth the wait. Handel’s ice cream is excellent. It’s all made on site, so it’s fresh and tasty. Many interesting flavors year round and some specials that appear for only a few weeks at a time (e.g., blueberry, peppermint stick). Although there is an outlet of Hope’s Ice Cream about a mile from home, which serves commercial Edy’s brand that you can find in the grocery store, we typically drive the seven miles or so to Handel’s because the ice cream is so much better.

Extra creamy treat. Thick and creaminess of their ice cream is always a treat all year long. My favorite are their pistacho & strawberry flavoured ice cream.
Think what you want,. But I am not embarassed to stand outside Handel’s in a February freeze to order a scoop of Graham Central Station. Or, their chocolate that’s so chocolatey, the word is used three times in the name. Actually, the dead of winter may be the best time of year because in the summer, everybody else has the same ice cream idea. You’ll walk right past the Hagen Dazs display in your store’s freezer after you try Handels’.
