Cheating their customers by using 14oz pint glasses instead of 16. It’s not illegal unless they specify on the menu your beer is a 16oz draft, but still shady. Just look next time at your glass, it’ll have a thick bottom to take up 2oz of space. Shameful move.
I have been going here every Friday and Saturday for the past 6 months. I love it. the staff is great owner and bartenders alike. the owner actually works rather than micromanages. so all the bad reviews I actually feel hurt. I’m a regular to say the least. best bar on state hands down my friends.
Fried Tilapia Sandwich to kill for. I frequent the Erie Ale House, mostly for drinks but I occasionally eat there. I have to say that I’ve never had a bad meal here. For appetizers, the fried pretzels are super fresh and delicious. The onion rings taste fresh and the fries are very good. The sausage sandwich is a quarter pound on a kaiser hot dog roll. It comes topped with fresh green and red peppers and onions. They put brown mustard on the side and I must say, it is excellent. But the highlight of dining at the Ale House is the fried tilapia sandwich. They hand bread it, then fry it and put a chipotle sauce and season over it with lettuce. It is airy, packed with flavor and the highlight of the menu. While nothing on the menu really grabs your attention at this place, what they do have on it is generally very good bar food at very reasonable prices. It is a nice, quiet retreat from the rest of State Street.17 Jun, 2012Exceptional service, super friendly and accomodating bartenders, delicious food and INCREDIBLE daily specials. the quesadillas and sausage sandwiches are off the hook!
