Most people still know it as ‘The Oakwood’. Why they altered the name a couple years ago, I can’t understand. Ordered a Reuben for pickup and it didn’t disappoint. Still as great a sandwich as ever; half of one is pretty much a meal. I get a Reuben 90% of the time from McGarrey’s. Place is always busy, but there is a lot of parking next door.
Confusing, dirty, poorly cooked bland food.. My wife and I went here for lunch the other day during a family celebration. First of all, if you’re looking for something Irish outside of the name and the shamrocks everywhere, DON’T go here. There isn’t a single Irish menu item, nor is there an Irish beer to drink that isn’t Guiness (They have Killian’s but that doesn’t count). For God’s sake, the menu has SHAMROCKS ALL OVER IT! You’d think you’d be able to order an attempt at shepherd’s pie or something. Second, the place smelled worse than a hockey locker room and our feet were quite literally sticking to the floor. It was appallingly dirty. Lastly, our food was overcooked, bland, and very very obviously came out of pouches, freezers, and cans. My wife’s chicken was literally like chewing beef jerky. She got the chicken and biscuits with gravy which I could have made better in the 8th grade. I got the Parmesan crusted chicken with spaghetti and the Cajun wedding soup. the sauce for my pasta wasn’t bad. Lots of garlic, which I like. However there wasn’t enough of it and the pasta was WAY underdone and wasn’t seasoned. The one saving grace of the meal was the wedding soup. I think it may have been the only thing that didn’t come out of a can. If you want cheap food, go to Wendy’s or something. Don’t waste your time or money here.
Up and Down. Sometimes its great…sometimes its not. Maybe its my imagination, but the food in the bar tastes better than the food in the dining room. Seems like every time I go there, the apprentice crew is on duty.
