Great Dinner @ Mi Scuzzi. Six weeks ago, as my wife and I were planning for our sons graduation from Pharmacy School, we asked the Big Guy where he wanted to go for dinner? He said Italian, so we went to work to find the best place in Erie for Italian food. We hit every website known to foodies and came up with Mi Scuzi. And, boy, did we (and Mi Scuzi) get it right.Mi Scuzi is located in an over one hundred year old building that is absolutely beautiful. Exposed wood beams in the main dining room with comfortable tables and seating. You are met at the door by Kat, co-owner and wife of Chef Michael. Kat is personable and friendly and presides over the dining room.We sat at our table and were greeted by Katie, our server. Professional, friendly and made great suggestions. You can tell that Mi Scuzi is well-managed.First, the wine list. A little limited in the selection, but very price-friendly. We had a Carpineto Dogajolo for less than forty dollars. Great wine at an even greater price. Now, the food. We went with two appetizers for our table of three, Calamari Seviche and the Stacked Tomato One Stick. The calamari was finished with sesame oil and had just amount of bite to it. Kat told us it was one of the House Specialties and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The Stacked Tomato had alternate layers of beefsteak tomato and mozzarella and was finished with a balsamic glaze. Delicious. For our dinners, we had the Shrimp and Scallop special over linguine, a Chicken Special over angel hair and the kitchen made a special dinner for me, Sunday Gravy, meatballs and sausage over Rigatoni. The pastas were cooked perfectly, al dente with a little bite and all the dinners were presented very nicely. Delicious again. We tried their limoncello and arangecello which were served cold. Perfect way to clean the palate and get ready for dessert. For dessert, the worlds absolute best lemon cake and white chocolate gelato. More delicious. We were so enamored with our meal that we took the time to go meet the chef and thank him for a great night. Our only disappointment was that after three years of Pharmacy School was that we found Mi Scuzi on our last night in Erie.Erie Residents & LECOM You want great Italian food, you dont have to go far Mi Scuzi has an outstanding kitchen, professional staff in a beautiful building.
Enjoyable with some qualifications. We visited from out of town, joining our son and his wife for dinner. The restaurant is in a renovated house which means parking is limited as is the seating, Our table was close enough to the table next to us that the wait staff had to run sideways to pass between us. The noise level varied, but was never a significant problem with conversation. Our waitress was very helpful and took great care of us.We shared a pear and caramelized onion pizza which was delicious but could have benefited from just a bit more Gorgonzola cheese, and a bottle of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo which was quite nice. The garlic knots were really more like small dinner rolls with shaved parmagiano-reggiano cheese and olive oil. Our entrees were delicious and plentiful with homemade pasta. For two of us, our servings were more than we could eat. Interestingly, though I ordered the cioppino, what arrived at the table turned out to be more like linguine al fruitti di mare than the soup/stew I expected. The cappuccino was good and our desserts were tasty but not remarkable with the exception of the amaretto mascarpone canalone which was quite good. The bill was over $200 once we added in a 20% tip.
Extraordinary. Owner Michael goes above and beyond, soups entrees and specials are best in erie. Accommodating staff is always friendly. Modern Italian food and an owner who really cares about his customers. We love the vodka penne and carbonara. Cannot wait to return and for the outdoor patio to reopen!
Popped in here randomly on a Sunday, as I had been meaning to insert this place into my restaurant rotation. I had been here previously for Drug Rep dinners, and this was my first time dining at my leisure. Was a very good restaurant experience. My server was very kind and helpful. The dining area was nice, and was peaceful. The food was tops. I had the Cioppino, which had very nice home made pasta, with a generous helping of Shrimp/Mussels, with a good sauce. The side of bread was also very good and plentiful. I added a side house salad and Tuscan White Bean soup. Overall a very good experience. I had nothing whatsoever to complain about.A tad more pricey than the local chain restaurants, but it’s worth it for the food quality, and to support local businesses. Will definitely dine in again, and definitely recommend.
We LOVE this place! We just moved here and this is hands down our new go to for a night out! The food was excellent, obviously, but what really made it for us was our server, Katie. She was awesome!! We didnt have to ask for anything, and she was so funny and engaging. we cant wait to go back!!
Fantastic Experience!!!!. This was the best food to date we have found in Erie. We had mussels for the appetizer and we loved them. I even ate the sauce. The steak could have melted in your mouth and the sides were excellent. We are going to go back very shortly and getting a reservation was easy even on short notice. We had the best seat in the house- very intimate- despite the limited area- it was not loud. Our waitress was wonderful! Thank you for the best Erie Experience so far!
Great dinner. Had a group dinner there in the upper room and the food and service were amazing. Really unique appetizers that were fresh and flavorful. I would highly recommend it.
