Pub grub. I came here for a quick dinner a few weeks ago and being it was the day after a big St. Patrick’s day bar crawl type of event, I was pretty satisfied overall with both the food and service. I had one of their specialty hot apple cider cocktails. I can’t remember the name but it was caramel apple like and pipping hot-perfect for that cold day! We sat next to the fireplace which I really enjoyed-that combined with the hot apple cider was so cozy. Our server was friendly and efficient. I decided to do the cup of soup and half sandwich combination, choosing the potato and leek soup (sans the cheddar cheese and bacon-although those add ons sounded quite appealing) and half of a turkey rachael. The bread wasn’t an overly dark rye nor was it overly greasy like I often find sandwich breads at restaurants. There could have been a tad more thousand island on the sandwich but I’m not going to be knit-picky here. Portion size was perfect when paired with the cup of soup too-not overly filling, just satisfying. They seemed to have a little bit of everything here so I would try eating here again given my first experience was decent.
Horrible service. Went for dinner on a thursday and waited forever for service, drinks and to order. Left after 45 minutes just as they were finally bringing our food. Asked to see the manager who never came to our table and had to deal with a snarky waitress(not ours). Emailed the owner but, no response… They broke all the cardinal rules. Worst service EVER!! Won’tgo back!
OH chicken boxty, I shall miss you….OH black and blue burger, you were the BEST! Kyle, OH grand waiter., & Isaac, King of Cooks, must we part? Seriously, the best food and service we have had in years. Fair prices and beautiful surroundings.
Fun, Delicious, One of Our Favorites!. We’ve visited Molly Brannigan’s a few times now with groups of 4-8 people. Not one has ever had a complaint about the restaurant, the food or the service. I will say that if you order everything from appetizers to alcohol to meal to dessert, your bill is going to show it, but that’s pretty much to be expected anywhere. Most of us have not had room for dessert, so I will speak more about the food items. The burgers are large and cooked as ordered, juicy, generously topped and the fries or fried items are good, as you would expect from a bar/grill. What we enjoy more are the various Irish dishes. From the slow-cooked roast on through, these dishes are fantastic. The portions are appropriate to large sized. A previous reviewer is correct about the fish & chips – absolutely terrific & plentiful. We’re all pretty good eaters, but it was a struggle for some to finish and some just couldn’t. The wrap is enormous. I keep it on my favorites list for every time we visit Erie. It doesn’t hurt that Starbuck’s is next door! It is street parking which can be difficult during the busier times of the day. Erie is not an overly expensive city, so just throw in a few quarters and go relax. The atmosphere is quaint & fun. We’re not particularly beer drinkers so I can’t say anything about the many that are listed on the wall, but ask about where the bar and furniture came from and the story behind the place. It’s a unique and fun little adventure into Ireland.
Yuck!. Burned Shepard’s Pie (1), 10 oz draft, Artichoke appetizer (1) & water all for $35.That was in 1999. Have never been back.
High cost for average food. Title explains it all. Average food for a high price. Atmosphere was nice though.
Love it!. I love stopping here when I’m downtown! The atmosphere inside is very relaxed, but still very nicely kept.. And the furniture is great! The burgers are delicious and the beer selection is very nice! I love sitting in the front by the gorgeous windows, I definitely recommend requesting that section! The waitresses are friendly and do a good job of checking with you without being overbearing. It’s definitely a place worth stopping by!
