The food is nothing special and service isn’t either. I really wish this place was better because I like the atmosphere but I think they need to improve before I’ll spend my money there consistently.
We dine at the Inn for our anniversary and other special occasions. We have always had superb service as well as excellently prepared food. We have also dined on the tavern side with the great service and food. We have never been disappointed there. The mushroom soup is the best in town. The steaks practically melt in your mouth. Another favorite is their crab cakes.
Mushroom festival weekend. Got to the restaurant after the lunch rush at 2:20. As we were standing waiting to be acknowledged several customers were leaving and loudly tell us and others in line they were there for over 20 minutes without even a hello. We thought that strange and decided to give it a try since we heard all good things about this place. Yes the service was slow, they were out of silverware and we had to wait for them to be washed, and then had to drink iced tea out of styrofoam cups since they didn’t have clean glasses either BUT the food was great. If you can put up with a 90 minute lunch , go for it.
