So tried to go to Isses noodles twice now. First time there was a wait which was fine. But they have a stupid list you need to fill out which wasnt obvious that thats what you needed to do. Once you sign into the list you dont have any idea when you might be seated. We wound up waiting for 30 minutes before we could flag someone and ask how long it would be. They said probably an hour. Fine, I can understand that. There was a convention that weekend and a lot of people were there. But it was already after 9 so we left to eat somewhere else and decided to go the next day. The next day we get there, theres no fine in service that day. So that irritated me. I mentioned about what happened the day before. Does the guy come back with something like oh sorry to hear that. Nope he comes back with I dont see how thats my problem. Well Ill never go there now. I dont deal with rude people and rude people dont deserve our money or anyone elses as far as Im concerned.
Anyone who follows my reviews knows that I am a big ramen fan. I was happy to hear that a noodle shop opened in Lancaster, where I visit fairly often. Firstly, there was a line of at least 10 people waiting to be seated before us. Nobody likes to wait when they are hungry, but the crowd was a good sign. The menu boasted both selections of ramen and pho, which usually makes me a little skeptical as the really good places have one specialty. I ordered the Chasu Ramen, which comes with pork broth, roasted pork, hardboiled eggs, bamboo, seaweed and green onion. It was definitely tasty, but not among the best ramen that I have ever had. One of my companions had the Spicy Tan-Tan Ramen, which included spicy ground pork, bok choy, bamboo and green onions in a spicy sesame base pork broth. This was by far the best one out of the four different types of ramen we all ordered. I have read some complaints regarding service and payment on some other review sites, however, experienced none of that during my visit to Issei. Our waitress was extremely friendly and sociable. I am certain I will be back when I am Lancaster and need my ramen fix.
Bad customer policies. Decent food, but don’t go without cash (you can’t pay by credit card under $10). I could have lived with that, but you really can’t bring too many friends either – if you have more than 4 people they add on a 20% surcharge (for reasons I cannot understand) – and STILL EXPECT YOU TO TIP ON TOP OF THE SURCHARGE. Food is not worth the anti-customer policies, and I refuse to eat there until they become more customer friendly.
Great food, but….. I love the food at this restaurant, and think it’s something that Downtown Lancaster needs. I do have one complaint.I’m not a fan of the one check for parties of five or more policy, and the automatic 18 percent gratuity they put on for parties of five or more. Here’s why.People in Lancaster like to go out to lunch together. Sometimes, they go in parties of five or more. I often do this with coworkers often. We’ve never had a problem separate checks from other restaurants in Lancaster. Not once. One member of our party explained to the waiter that because of this policy, we would not likely come back to Issei for our group office lunch hour.I would recommend to Issei that they revise this policy. I know it has to do with a federal fee increase or something like that, but please do not pass this inconvenience to your customers. That aside, I love the food! Just not their check policies. The food gets them the positive rating.
