One of our favorite places.. The bar tender they have is so sweet and creative. The food is really great and the drinks cater to anyone. Beer for hubby mixed drink for me. I’m on a mission to try every meal on the menu.
Lancasters Cheers. Most college towns have an old-time bar/restaurant that doesnt attempt to innovate, but sticks to their guns and keeps slinging beers and daily specials. I stopped in one weekday and had a cup of chicken tortilla soup and half chicken salad sandwich on rye bread. Nothing amazing, nothing that blew my mind, but an easy not-too-filling option while catching up with an old friend. – – This place isnt going to be a dining experience and it might not be your top choice for a first date, but if you want to have a pint and grab a bite, all without spending an arm and a leg, youll do just fine here. Proximity to the Lancaster Central Market is key. My friend (a local) wouldnt have taken me here if she didnt think it would work for lunch, as she goes regularly.
Affordable Pub Food in an Amazing Victorian Atmosphere. DipCo has been a downtown Lancaster gem for 20+ years. One of the best places to hear original live music on Friday’s and Saturday’s (mostly of which I would categorize as adult indie, Americana, folk, etc). DipCo is areas version of a Greenwich Village bar. Located in a restored Victorian home, the spot is one of the most beautiful bars I’ve ever entered and the owners do it justice year after year.Choice in tap beers seems to be skewed towards IPAs, but they usually have a token wheat beer plus Guinness is a staple. The menu is typical sandwich, pub fare. They don’t have a deep fryer, so no French Fries. There are enough vegetarian options and stuff like nachos, etc. that can be easily modified for veggie lovers. I usually get nachos or the black bean burger which is flavorful, but on the dry side. Make sure you get it with a condiment (*cough, cough, the guacamole *). Food wise it wont be your most memorable meal, but ithe bohemian crowd is ALWAYS friendly, even to strangers. Overall DipCo is on the short, short list of best bars in town.
Prices were reasonable Food was mediocre at best. The hamburger didn’t taste like anything, though it was obviously fresh. Seasoning would definitely have helped. The potato salad was sweet, yet had no flavor. The vegerarian French Onion Soup tasted more like gravy mix than soup. Soup shouldn’t be gloppy. The croutons lacked seasoning and tasted like really old stale bread. The high point was excellent homemade Bleu Cheese dressing. That was the best I’d had in years. I wouldn’t go back nor would I recommend.
Food was mediocre at best. Ambience featured really loud, obnoxious people at the bar. Understaffed and over matched.
I love this place.. Great lunch and lunch specials! Good music, great service, and I love the art on the walls. I could eat one of their crab salads right now.
Awesome bar, good bloody marys, nice beer selection, friendly service and great music! (well sometimes the music during the day is a little slow for my liking) overall a wonderful time!!
