I have eaten at the Pressroom many times over the years. I haven’t tried everything on the menu, but everything I ever ordered has been very good. Their cost-to-quantity ratio is acceptable. The bartenders (the ones working when I’ve been there) know their craft too! The only issue I have had has been less than stellar service in the outdoor dining, especially when they are busy. If they are busy, and if there are seats, I recommend sitting at the bar or the bar tables.

I do not mind paying high price for good food. I do mind paying high price for bad. Tonight’s dinner was the second.

5 Star Experience. I ate lunch here over the summer of 2011 with my sister, who was in town from Phoenix AZ, and our mother. The food was to die for! I had a chicken crepe in a brandy cream sauce that was so good I did not want it to end. My sister is looking forward to another visit to the Pressroom when she is in town for Christmas. Excellent. Highly recommended.

Went there 2 nights in a row. First night was for drinks on a slow Thursday evening. There was a jazz ensemble playing that was one of the best I’ve heard. Next evening was during First Friday festivities and the place was packed. We ordered the cream crab soup that was very good but a bit salty, chicken wings (mild) that were also good, beef vegetable soup that was nearly perfect, escargots that were excellent, spinach salad that was pretty good and seared scallops in pasta that were very good. The kitchen, however, got behind and never recovered. There was a couple next to us that waited for their food far longer than we did. Our waiter was fantastic, though. He explained what had happened & kept checking back with us & even brought more soup (gratis). We were seated outside by the fountain and had a lovely evening despite their problems in the kitchen.

My wife and I went here for a date night and it was fantastic. The garlic hummus app had just the right amount of garlic, and the feta, tomato and crushed olives all had good flavor. The lettuce in the salads good and the cherry tomatoes were sweet and ripe. My wife’s prime rib was extremely tender. My veal oscar had prefect aspargus, tasty hollandaise, rich crab and pan seared veal that was slightly overdone. Our waiter was a great guy who was familiar with the extensive beer selection who got a little overwhelmed when things got busy. The front of house manager picked up the slack nicely. Overall a great experience. I would definitely eat here again.

Embarrassment. Ate at the Pressroom on a Saturday evening. Called ahead for reservations for a party of 11 people -some from out of town. Wanted to surprise them with the atmosphere and food. Turned out I was the one surprised: at the worst service I have ever had!!! When I called to find out if the acoustics sitting outside would be okay, I was told we would be seated away from the fountain -wrong! Forgotten drinks that came sometimes an hour after they were ordered (had to change the CO2 tanks? for a ginger-ale??); cold entrees; ran out of food (calamari??); tiny portions of mashed potatoes (are you kidding me? can they spare it?); mixed up our orders; and brought out the vegetable AFTER we were almost finished with the entrees. We complained to the server, but nothing was done to alleviate our aggravation…no free desert or free appetizer. I did not want to embarrass my guests by going to the manager and making a scene. The server was so terrible, I had to track him down numerous times…sometimes we was just talking to another server??? Saw no management that I could tell.Food was okay, but nothing special….in fact, two orders of the same entree looked completely different. Soooo, dissappointed because parties of 10 or more have the tip added to their bill at 18%…the horrible server got $90 from us!!!!My party and I get together often and each person gets to choose what restaurant we visit. I chose the Pressroom and will never be taken seriously again!Best of all, didn’t realize it until I got home, but they split the bill incorrectly and actually ended up shorting themselves by over $100!!! ( I will call them to make it right, but when I am darn well ready!)

Worst Steak I’ve Ever Had. My fiance and I both ordered steak recently at the Pressroom. She ordered the filet and I ordered their Prime Rib, which the menu appears to highlight as somewhat of a specialty for them.To say both steaks were bad is an understatement of biblical proportions. She and I both enjoy good steaks (have had many, many good and excellent steaks at other restaurants), and these were about as far from edible as anything that has been put on a plate in front of me in a restaurant.I made it about a quarter of the way through mine before finally giving up after chewing a particularly tough and stringy piece of my steak for what seemed like 10 minutes. To make matters worse, both steaks were served in a sort of gelatenous goo that was apparently meant to serve as gravy. After tasting both steaks, it was clear to me why they would have tried to hide the look, taste and texture. Absolutely awful!Ruth’s Chris this was not. That being said, we didn’t expect it to be but the Pressroom apparently fancies themself to be a Ruth’s Chris type of establishment given the prices. All in, our bill totaled close to $100 with tax, tip and 1 beer for each of us.The overall appearance of the salad, rolls and steak were eerily reminescent of banquet food, including the metal covers that accompanied the plates when the food was brought to the table.Save yourself the time, money and stress and instead make a short trip across town to Rosa Rosa where the pizza, cheesesteaks and beer are cheap and excellent!
