Unimpressive. Visited with colleagues recently and had an ok time despite the poor food. It’s been a while since I’ve been to Quips and it has always been dingy and dirty, but i recall the food being better… maybe a new chef? The menu is very ambitious for a pub and unfortunately, there were more misses than hits. Everything we ordered was below average and it was as if they had an attitude about it. A cute pub for pints and cocktails, but the food leaves much to be desired.

Awesome. If you were just driving past this Pub you probably not stop in to eat here, but that would be a big mistake. Not only is the craft beer list great but the food is awesome. I would strongly suggest the Fish and Chips which is served up in a page of a London newspaper and cooked to perfection. The portions are also generous. Highly recommended.

Great fish and chips. It comes wrapped in London newspaper.Lots of tasty beers.

Dirty, slow, and drinks even slower. They should be embarrassed to call this fine dining.

Charming Pub. Quips is a nice, out of the way British-style pub on the east side of the city. I have met friends there for the past few years, and it is among the better choices in Lancaster City for a laid back, social night out. The place is often very crowded on the weekends and has a lively, social vibe to it, but it doesn’t tend to attract the rowdy college crowd. The demographic generally seems to be people in their mid-20s to middle aged. The two dart boards appear to be a big attraction to a lot of patrons, which can be entertaining to watch. Quips offers a fairly substantial list of international beers and microbrews on tap, along with a variety of bottled beers. The prices for beer are a little high if you want to sample the premium beers, but Yuengling and other cheaper domestic beers are also available for a few dollars cheaper. I have also found that Quips offers some of the best the best pub fare in the county. From Bangers and Mash to Fish and Chips, everything I’ve tried thus far has been of high quality, delicious and fairly priced. They also run daily specials, which knock a few bucks off the menu prices, and can be found on their website. The Wings are also perhaps the best I’ve had at a bar in Lancaster to date. I noticed a less than stellar review that claimed they are bad, but in the three or so times I’ve ordered them, they’ve been of good quality, well cooked, and moderately coated with sauce leaving them pretty crispy. They’re also served with a house-made gorgonzola dip which is 20x better than the usual blue cheese from a bottle. Stop over and decide for yourself.

Quip’s Pub could be nice. However, given the low level of cleanliness and high level if rudeness from the servers, I cannot recommend it. If the food was inexpensive, I would reconsider; however, it is simple not worth the money.

Good bar food. Best wings around.
