Decided on a steak dinner while in Amish country and was referred to this establishment. We were sadly disappointed. We called ahead and were told we didn’t need a reservation. Needless to say, it was a disappointment to walk in and told we would have to wait for a table. Of note, the hostess kept running around in front of us; she appeared to be very disorganized and not in control of the situation at hand, which was an immediate turn off. After atleast five minutes and an apologetic conversation with the owner, we were shown to our seats. The restaurant was clearly trying to exude a romantic ambiance, but I found it to be dark and tired. The tables were close together so I could hear the entire conversation of the table behind me.We ordered fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. The tomatoes were cold in the middle and the coating reeked of grease. That being said, the steak and chilean sea bass were tasty. On the plus side, our waiter, Matthew, and the owner went above and beyond and were genuinely interested in making this meal a memorable experience for us. However, I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.

As we often do, we made an unexpected stop here and dined in the bar area. Delicious well prepared food as always. Calamari is Excellant, steak is always delicious and the duck can’t be beat! Combine this with top notch service from Mathew made it an enjoyable evening at one of Lancasters best restaurants.

We have been to Stockyard on 4 separate occasions, and it has been a very good experience each time. We visited for our anniversary and Valentine’s Day over the past year, and got the Prime Rib, which is absolutely delicious. Our waiters were very attentive and friendly. We have sampled a fair number of restaurants in the area, and have chosen The Stockyard for special occasions several times. We have not been disappointed.

Fantastic dinner. First time diner at this place.it would have been a big help had the gentleman that took my reservation had told me you can’t get to our restaurant because of road construction and to follow other signs. Still arrived 10 minutes early for our 730 pm reservation, waited another 28 minutes to be seated. The place was very busy, we waited a little longer on our server and it was a bit slow throughout dinner. However or server, Hunter, did a fantastic job! He really eased things up and made up for the shortcomings do far. The food was exceptional! Prime Rib and Crab Alfredo just fantastic, desserts to die for! Hunter comped my drink for the wait to be seated. This is an easy again restaurant!

Overpriced and not worth it.. Mediocre food and bad service. This place seems to rely soley on its elderly customers who keep coming back by habit and are afraid to try any of the HUNDREDS of restaurants in the Lancaster area. There are so many great places to eat in Lancaster that I don’t know why anyone would try this place more than once. It is in walking distance of my house and we never go there. Beware the burger joint next door to it as well since it is run by the same owners and the burgers were dry even though I ordered them medium rare. I wonder at the level of neglect that can cause such a thick burger to end up dry and tough. Plenty of other great places for burgers around. Skip this one.

Worst steak I ever had!. Was there for the very first time last night. I had heard so many good things about this place and their steaks.. I had the worst steak ever! It had so much fat on it that 1/2 of it was not edible. The prime rib was way over cooked and we waited over an hour for our food! We complained but apparently the management / owners really don’t care too much that their customers are unhappy since they never bothered to compensate us or even apologize. The waiter was very apologetic and the only good experience we had there. Would NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Very nice white table cloth restaurant. Food-not so good. Calamari appetizer was really tough, wedge salad not really right and signature crab cake was heavy on breading and mayo and light on crab… Not going back
