Wow! What a great meal. We ordered the guacamole for an appetizer, it was well prepared. My SO ordered from the spicy menu and the burrito didn’t disappoint. It was fantastic. I ordered off the peruvian menu. The salmon in a coconut curry sauce was fan-tab-u-lous. I would order again. This place is a true gem and not to be missed if you are in the area. The outside of the restaurant looks to be closed from Columbia street– its a bit dark, there is plenty of lighted parking in the back. The interior of the restaurant is well appointed and very nice.
The food was really flavorful, the portion for the meat was smaller then expected but they gave a lot of fillers! It was really authentic. The atmosphere was really lovely, a little loud, but the live music was so relaxing. Great girls night dinner!
Cool atmosphere, and the food has been decent, however I am not a fan of their margaritas. Margaritas are probably my favorite all-time drink, so I’ve had the opportunity to compare, and these taste like run of the mill margarita mix drinks to me.
Fantastic food and a great atmosphere! Beautiful place, will be back for sure!
I was really excited to try this place based on the reviews. I am sorry to say this place is all ambiance and lacking in authentic Mexican food. I lived in Scottsdale Arizona for two years and would frequently travel down to Mexico for a weekend getaway so I know good Mexican when I eat it. I am sorry to say I would rather eat at El Rodeo than El Serrano.
Deeelicious. The yucas were divine, and the vegetable fajitas were cooked to perfection. Thinking about this restaurant and its culinary delights makes my mouth water and makes me want to travel 4 hours east on an already full stomach to obtain it.
Not Terrible but Extremely Overrated. My wife claims the steak fajitas are out of world, but when I hear El Serrano, my stomach starts growling for Neato Burrito, Roburrito, or even Chipolte. If you go, avoid the vegetarian Mexican dishes, they are below average at best. I would recommend the Peruvian Tacu Tacu for dinner. The vegetarian version is on the bland side, but unique. Make sure you get an order of Yucas, they are usually pretty good (although sometime too greasy depending on the chef on duty). The Papa la Huancaina is bad, but isn’t memorable either.Criticism aside, I will say El Serrano might be the classiest restaurants in town, especially when they have musicians walking around the place stopping to play at tables. If you are looking to impress a formal date, its an extremely good choice (my first date with my wife was there for that very reason). However, if you are looking for a good vegetarian meal, keep looking.
