Keep driving!!!. This is some of the worst BBQ I have eaten. Brisket tasted like it had been laying around for a few days, potato salads and cole slaw had no flavor at all. Corn fritters definitely made days prior and just re-fired. C’mon Jakey, ya can’t evend do french fries right…SOGGY!!!!! Just horrid and very, very expensive. Worst meal by far in the area, don’t bother and keep on driving!
Great BBQ, great price!. Found Jakey’s through a business-card sized ad in one of those pamphlet-walls that you get in touristy areas, and boy am I glad. This place was right up my alley. Not only did they have the standard chicken, ribs, pulled pork, and brisket… but also Turkey, which is scarce for the BBQ joints around my area.We were there around lunch time, so in lieu of a sampler-platter (from the smell, I wanted EVERYTHING), I opted to go conservative and get a Turkey sandwich with the mild BBQ sauce, and some fries. My wife got the BBQ chicken also with the mild sauce and some macaroni salad. We both had iced tea to drink. My sandwich was great… the turkey was really juicy and not drowning in sauce… I could really taste the flavor of the meat and the sauce. I love to cook turkey, and I can appreciate that there’s an art to cooking it so it doesn’t dry out. It’s not easy! I did add some of the spicy BBQ sauce which was provided on the table… it definitely wasn’t too hot to handle. It has a nice heat, again keeping the flavor through the heat. The fries were excellent, and the guy in the back even sent out extra because he didn’t feel I had enough on my plate the 1st time. Bethany enjoyed her chicken, felt like I did about the heat of the sauce, and enjoyed the macaroni salad. The place had a quaint indoor picnic vibe, and the staff was really pleasant. I got the feeling that our waitress and another young guy behind the counter were new. We heard the owner or manager give them a pep talk form the back, telling them that they were doing a good job & handling the work load well & to keep up the good work. It made us feel good dining there with the feeling that the employees were being treated well… it definitely translated to their attitude & demeanor in serving the food. The place is nestled in between some tourist-trap like little gift shops that are fun to check out. We’ll be back next time we’re in the area, without a doubt!
I recommend you skip this place.. I was very disappointed with the service and food at this restaurant. Upon arrival the waitress was not the most present. The funnel cake we ordered was a disappointment. It was not properly cooked and it tasted rancid. When I returned to the restaurant to return the cake, I spoke with who seemed to be the owner. He was somewhat apologetic.PS. I had to choose one start before I can post this rating but I think it deserves no starts
Awesome!. The is by far the best barbecue I have ever eaten–and I am from Tennessee!
