This place has the best homemade food! Everything tastes so fresh every time. We also enjoy the Greek food selection that they offer, Mousaka and Pastichio just like grandma used to make it! Definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for home cooked food!!
Service. Worst service minded business I have ever dealt with. Don’t order to go as they will only serve you entire menu if you will sit in their dining room. Makes no sense. I went to get dinner to go for my family but they would not allow me to order to go but I could sit down if I wanted to with my family and order the same thing. Their excuse was they need the food for the customers who come in. So I could order if I stayed and then get a to go container but could not just order to go. By the way they were closing in 45 minutes and I had ordered the same thing in the past with no problem. It wasn’t an employee but one of the owners who I was dealing with.If this is confusing to you imagine how I felt stand in their business. I could go on but bad service and stupidity don’t deserve any more time.
Never Again. More than 3 Strikes — they are now OUT!. They simply don’t care about their guests & providing good service.I’ve given them several shots at my business in the last year & each time they disappoint me in some way. Lunch problems, dinner problems. Today I’m done! The service, I should say lack of, the food temps, the management not showing empathy toward the guests’, the rude young woman at the desk never smiling & having no manners whatsoever. Not respecting groups that find the location perfect only to arrive & feel like they are being a burden to the West Main Family Restaurant. This morning: Juice was barely cool not to mention all of the lemon seeds, asked for dry toast – it came buttered, asked for soft wet omelet – it came med/well done, grape jelly only on table & after a request for another kind only to be forgotten whereby I got up & searched for another myself at close empty tables. All disappointments shared with server & manager — NOTHING done not even a proper apology. NEVER going back. Good location, it is a shame. If you serve me properly with good food, kind guest service & care about me. I’m a HUGE & loyal fan telling lots of potential guests, if you don’t – I’m done & will tell lots of potential guests.
WOW….I have eaten at West Main many times and I love it.. We eat breakfast there a lot and my husband and his Saturday morning breakfast group eat there 99% of the time. Everyone there has been nothing but friendly and very nice. A friend and I just had breakfast there last week and we both got free coffee…with refills. Everyone that I talk to that has had a meal there says the same thing….delicious food and very friendly atmosphere. When My husband says let’s go for breakfast my first choice is West Main Family Restaurant. I love chipped beef over toast and just about every place that I’ve ordered it, it tastes like flour paste. West Main’s is delicious as is their French Toast.
GO ELSEWHERE FOR BROASTED CHICKEN. Have you had a bad experience at West Main Family Restaurant near the intersection of West Main Street and West Simpson Simpson at 710 Main Street, Mechanicsburg I did today, March 11, 2014!Over a year ago I swore I would never go back when I ordered a Cheeseburger with mayonnaise and was charged 50 cents for the mayonnaise!But today I decided to give them another try. MISTAKE! I just wanted broasted chicken and a drink. But when I tried to order it I was told they only sold the broasted chichen dinner for eating in the dining room, and if I want just the broasted chicken and a drink I would have to eat it else where. What sense does that make put the broasted chicken on a plate rather than a box heck I was willing to eat it out of the boc at the table but was told I could not do that. Broast checken if bought without the veggies, etc as a dinner meal CAN NOT BE EATEN IN THE RESTURANT!So I orders a Deluxe Cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and mayo. Hey the mayo was even free this time but it came with no lettuce. The waitress went back and I clearly heard her ask for the lettuce for the burger they last served up they gave her shredded lettuce. When I talked to the manager about the broasted chicken and shredded lettuce, She said the reason I could not order just broasted chicken to eat in the restaurant was because the only broasted chicken on the menu without side items is listed as a TO GO ITEM! Crazy. And when I asked why I go shredded lettus for the burger she blaimed it on the waitress, She acknowledging it should have been leaf lettuce and said the waitress must have asked for the shredded lettuce. That was not the case. I hear her clearly ask for lettuce for a burger.Moral of the store, if you want a soda and broasted chicken and no side dishes just go the Grandpa Growlers. They will provide it with a smile.I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THE WEST MAIN FAMILY DINNER!!!!
Avoid at all cost.. My cousin and I have been meeting here every other week for over a year for breakfast. Today we had the co-owner for our waitress, she took our order but another waitress had delivered the order. She stated what was what and we began to eat, after three or four bits I stated that this was not what I ordered. The co-owner came over to check on us and we explained that this was not wht we ordered. Her answer was to switch plates after we both started to eat them. I explained I would not do this and again she insisted that we switch orders. I stated I would drink my coffee and pay for the coffee. She continued to argue with me and I asked her to leave my table so I could finish my coffee, She insisted that we leave at once. I will never step foot in this restaurant again. And I will be filing a complaint with the State. If she insisted that we switch plates just think what they do with your orders if you have to return them to the kitchen. It’s a shame that people like her are allowed to operate a restaurant. And the waitress that made the mistake was required to pay for our meals, it’s the co-owners fault that she was to dam lazy to deliver the order that she took.
Terrible Situation – Never Again Will Eat Here -Beware. Waitresses were very nice. Food was mediocre . Our group had been reserving the back room area for the last few years for our Christmas Parties. This year, we reserved some tables in their back room for the afternoon (2-5pm) just like we’ve done in the past unfortunately the owner’s wife approached one of the ladies and said very loudly and embarrassing everyone that we were not allowed to take up this room space and large amount of time during their lunch and dinner hours. The owner’s wife also stated we were not welcome and that after this, we were not to come back. Unfortunately we did not have anywhere else to go so we stayed and tried to hurry thru everything feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. The hostess got yelled at for allowing us to come in and take up the space and time. We had an excellent waitress and we all felt sorry for her. She was a trooper. During the time we were there the place did not get very busy and no one was waiting for a table. She had stated that we would be preventing others from being seated. As a group we got thru this embarrassing event and did enjoy each others company. We will not be returning, nor will I continue to recommend this restaurant to anyone. I certainly would not promote anyone going to this restaurant. Owner’s wife needs to learn people skills and have some anger management classes. Never again will I step into this restaurant. I feel sorry for the staff.
