Dirty. There is antique and there is old. This place is old. The decor needed dusted 15 years ago…..maybe they are going for an ‘Adams Family’ vibe…. the menu is very 1980’s and boring. Pass!
Beautiful building, fantastic food, great service. My husband can’t stop talking about the food…everything homemade and cooked perfectly. Wonderful experience.
Enjoy It!. As a Pellegrini Family member I thank all of you who have enjoyed the restaurant throughout the years. We have appreciated not only your praise but your critiques, as they have helped us improve. I am no longer involved in the restaurant, nor have I been for 15 years, but I will always have good memories of good people and good times.
Wonderful experience!. I planned a family luncheon here for about 35 people. Robin and Ross were incredibly accommodating and friendly. They put together a 7 entree fixed menu for our group and included everything from soup/salad through dessert. I had the portobello mushroom stuffed with pesto couscous and it was delicious. I heard other rave reviews about the chicken flake and the seafood crepes, and the peanut butter pie. I highly recommend this beautifully decorated restaurant for a luncheon or date night.
Gordon Ramsey needs to visit. Was excited to try this restaurant but came away disappointed; so hard to find decent independent restaurants. Chain restaurants offer some consistency at least. I ordered the Sausage Sicilian appetizer but the waitress never put it in. Our entrees weren’t too bad- the Chicken Pamela was cooked well and my Canneloni Bolognese had reasonably good flavor and texture. Upon reminding the waitress, she put in the appetizer order but the sausage was still frozen in parts when it arrived. Overall, not worth it given the wait and poor service. The frozen sausage bit also makes one question how fresh all the ingredients would be; a high turnover restaurant would use fresh supplies.
Again the Best Resturant. The resturant is making changes for the better. Now under new ownership it is the place to be. In the rear of the resturant is a beatiful, newly refurbished, herb garden. The resturants earlier owners (Children of the fownder Alfred Pelligrini) did a bad job of taking care of there fathers pride and joy.So now making many changes, the resturant is the next place to dine. Being a resident of Middletown myself, I have heard the resturant has a new owner who plans to make many changes for the good of the business. Knowing her closly myself the changes will include: – Better Service – Fixing up the building, including the now stuning herb garden – Making changes to the menu and wine list – Giving the resturant a lighter feel – Making the food much better than previous years – and, just restoring it to its full potentual like when it was originally owned Some reveiws may say it was terribile and had bad service but that was the old resturant, check out the new and improved resturant. It is wonderful and teh new owner says that the resturant should be taken back to when it was first open. The wonderful service, and food will be restored. A new view and a lighter feel inside the resturant will be in the works. And even the personal service, just to make you happy, will be reveiled. So come check out Alfred’s Victorian it is now the place to dine!
Blah!. My last visit was so disappointing–went to lunch with a friend–the food was OK but high-priced and the service was terrible.
