Mixing Up Some Memories…. Art’s Bakery IS the quintessential hometown bakery. Open since 1950, Art’s Bakery is made all the more rare because it has kept that hometown feel throughout the years…and consistently turned out AMAZING baked goods. Each time I’m in Erie, I go by Art’s…some of my more favorite items being Arteo’s, the cookie trays (at Christmas time…always a hit for parties!), buckeyes, the garlic cheese bread, cheddar rolls, and just your good basic cut-outs. I also love that there is a deli counter. The selection of cheeses and meats is wonderful (try some of the smoked cheeses!) and Art’s is one of the only places in Erie to offer slab bacon…YUM! The other thing I love about going into Art’s is those who work there…my experience with customer service is wonderful…and each time I walk in I am immediately greeted (often time even by name). How wonderful it is that in today’s society there are still places that get to know their customers!!! If you want that throwback to another time…along with some amazing baked goods…Art’s is the place in Erie to go! I’m a customer for life…(…it must also be mentioned they’ve been voted Erie’s Choice several years now…CONGRATS to them!)

That’s the way the cookie crumbles. Whenever I am in the area, I find that it is worth the time to go to Art’s bakery for a variety of reasons. There is always something unique to try, whether it is a gourmet BBQ sauce or some other condiment that I hadn’t thought of in years or a new bread or desert item. The cookies have a slightly salty hint to them, more than what I grew up with, but I have found that it adds to the flavor of the cookie as a whole. The dutch apple pie is a personal favorite as well as the Torpedoes and snickerdoodles. The store does a great job of running the meat and cheese deli counter and has sandwiches available during the morning to make it easy and affordable to get lunch (and a snack – i mean, this is a bakery). I have found that it is easy to order a tray of almost anything in the store for use at meetings at work or even just a treat at home and this is especially useful at Christmas time. Well worth stopping in.

Amazing. I have been purchasing items from Art’s bakery for over 20 years and have never been disappointed. Between the amazing deli prices and the quality of the baked goods there is no comparison. I have to say that our favorites have to be the fresh swedish rye bread, pepperoni balls, and fresh sandwich rolls. I shop at Art’s twice a week and besides the quality of their products the employees are the most friendly and helpful I have seen in a long time.

Chocolate chip cookies. So I hadn’t bought any in a while but had a coupon from the books the schools sell. Wow. Flat little round discs…one, I think, had exactly 3 chips, all off on one side, and the rest was plain! The chips weren’t even regular sized chocolate chipsl ike found in bags at grocers!!!! Ye Olde Sweet Shop si SO much better. I live closet to Art’s, though, and really wish he would improve his cookie recipes. I can bake better ones myself.

Smells wonderful walking in…. Dad love’s the eldeberry pie, but now they have smaller versions in the form of tarts! They are fresh and delicious! Don’t have to have the entire pie! I would be in there too often if I lived a little closer!

The elderberry pie is great. This is my 85 year old father’s favorite pie and now I don’t have to hassle cleaning those darned berries, Art’s always has Elderberry pie LOL.

Where else can you find…?. Art’s Bakery is sooo good. The elderberry pie is fantastic. The cinnamon rolls are great. *Everything* is good! I’m definitely a fan, and Art’s is a keeper!
