I have been to the Sandbar for lunch on many occasions over the years, but more often at night for live music. The food and service have been in steady decline for some time now and shows no sign of improvement. This will be my last lunch there. When I have gone for weekdaylunches this summer the only person serving the bar and dining area (inside and on the patio) is a single bartender. This is simply too much for one person to cover effectively. They are doing their best, but it is just not possible for one person to handle all that. Food takes a long time to come out and is sub-par at best. Today I had a sandwich claiming to be ‘Corona battered cod’ which would imply it was being breaded and deep fried there. There is no way that is happening. The fish (which may have indeed been cod, as advertised) was most definitely battered and fried in a factory then frozen. On my other recent visit I had a very sad imitation of something calling itself a Philly cheesesteak. I would not usually even bother ordering one anywhere in NW PA because no one seems to know what one is actually supposed to be. Once in a while I still take a chance. In this case the menu stated the following:’Shaved beef smothered with grilled onions, mushrooms, peppers, and melted cheeses, piled high on a grilled hoagie roll.’ The phrase ‘piled high’ must mean maybe 1/4 inchof disappointing ingredients with colby jack (??) cheese melted on top. If you are looking for a great draft beer selection andsome good live music at night then Sandbar is still doing that well. Otherwise, skip it! There are plenty of other places with a lot of beer on tap, and you can actually order good food at those places as well.
I didn’t experience the food here but I liked it because of their amazing selection of beers on tap. Our bartender was very courteous and prompt. It didn’t have a restaurant feel to it but if you’re just with your buddies looking for good beer and possibly some pub food this is the place.
Slow Service. 3 of us went in it took way too Long for our food at least 45 Min. or longer, Daughter liked Hamburger and Fries, I had wings they were also good, my sister had Gyro, she did not like she said Steak um for meat and the sauce was not cucumber.
Pros and Cons. Pros: good friesCons: slow, inexperienced server, filthy restrooms, and inaccurate menu descriptions.
It is what it is…. It’s a fun place.
Food was mediocre. Service was awful, not only did we wait 10 minutes for drinks and a menu, we also waited over 15 minutes to pay check.
