We have enjoyed dining here several times now. The atmosphere is clean and fresh. The menu is simple but with plenty of options. This is a family run business and they couldn’t be any better representatives of they tried. The meals are presented well and with care. Even on disposable plates and plastic utensils the food looks great arriving at the table. Flavors are spot on and the food is prepared really well. Great flavors and very satisfying to eat. We love the fresh flat bread cooked in the hearth to order. Definitely on of our favorites in the Washington are. Ps. try the baclava!!!

Absolutely. Amazing. Everything (chicken shawarma, beef shawarma, spicy hummus, baba ganoush, and more) was made fresh. Complex flavors, perfectly cooked and prepared. We even had warm pita bread (and by that I mean it was dough seconds before we ate it!). The owners are very nice. Price is very reasonable for the quality of food. Restaurant is beautiful and spotlessly clean. Love yourself, go eat there. Now.

Excellent flavor to the food. Fresh and filling too. You shouldn’t leave hungry. Staff is super friendly and goes out of their way to make sure every need is met.

There is a welcome trend towards the Mediterranean cuisine in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. The latest to open is this place which combines the cuisine with the kind of fast casual service that you can find at a Chipotle or Qdoba. I was passing by the neighborhood and thought that I would grab a bite at the new Primanti’s by the Casino so I pulled in to their parking lot when I saw the sign on the building to the sign. This is right next to Buford’s Kitchen, but I did not notice it when I went there a few weeks ago. Deciding that this sounded more interesting than a Primanti’s, I entered.Once you’re past the double glass door, you see a space full of tables for two, four, or more people arranged between you and the kitchen area. When you get to the kitchen area, you find the normal kind of layout – a place to order your food, a layout of salads, toppings, sauces and the like behind glass to entice you, a pickup area with the requisite cash register, and an array of menu boards above the heads of the servers so you can see what all the offerings are about. The woman who came to serve me as soon as I stepped up to the counter was very informative about the cuisine and what was being offered. She may have been the owner, or manager, and clearly came from the part of the world that this cuisine comes from as well, so her advice was sound. Since this was my first visit, I decided to not go too far afield and had the Chicken Shawarma sandwich, with an appetizer of the house made traditional Hummus, and decided to finish it off with one of the two kind of Baklava that were sitting on the counter.By the time I got my drink from the machine in the corner, the food was ready to go, so I picked it up, found a table and started eating. The Hummus was made the way I’ve had it in the Middle East – it was creamy and swirled in the plate with a topping of some red Papprika, chickpeas, and a touch of olive oil. It was superb! I was expecting the traditional Pita bread but instead was given two puffy loaves that had just come out of the oven. They were about half the size of a traditional pita, but were definitely a pocket bread – perhaps this is their version of a pita? Just smaller than what you typically see? I do not know, but I used it as a Pita to swoosh up some of the delicious Hummus and it worked quite well for that. The Chicken Shawarma came in its own rolled-up Pita bread. It was well seasoned and was supposed to be accompanied by a pickle. Unlike the generous serving of the Hummus, this was very scant and the Pita was rolled over itself almost twice. The slivers of chicken meat were fine, but I had a hard time finding the pickle until I was about three quarters done with the roll, when I bit into it. It was a tasty pickle, but there was no chicken surrounding it?!?! Too bad, as it was tasty, but definitely left me feeling dissatisfied. At this stage, I was afraid that the Baklava – which was sitting on the counter next to the cash register – would turn out to be dry. It was a good size piece, but I was hoping to see some of the syrupy goodness around it – but is was not there… My fears were dispelled when I bit into it. The honey syrup is there ! It complements the chopped pistachios and file dough nicely and was just enough to keep everything moist.I will definitely make a point of coming back to try more of the offerings on the menu. While the main dish was scant, it was flavorful and many of the other offerings looked very interesting to me.

Today my mom and I tried Markook for lunch before shopping at the Tanger outlet mall. It was delicious! It’s a fast casual restaurant where you choose your type of protein (chicken, steak, falafel) and how to set it up (wrap, salad, platter) so there are options to please everyone. I enjoyed that they have vegetarian options – yum fava bean falafel! And my mom got chicken kabob which she said was good too. Bonus: they give fresh baked pitas! And their baklava is to die for.

We ate lunch here on 3-2-2016. It was remarkable. The food was great, fresh and everyone was really kind and helpful in our choices. The restaurant was spotless to boot. Great place for Mediterranean cuisine, and we will be back real soon. C.S and G.C.

Stopped into this new Middle Eastern restaurant yesterday for lunch, and had a falafal wrap. It was good, and I look forward to coming back again some time and trying some of the other menu items.
