Metropolitan Bakery has a reputation of having fresh, French-style pastries, baked goods, and sandwiches, making it quite popular. I frequent this location as well as any restaurant serving their baked goods, as they are a treat. I’ve eaten at this cafe for brunch with a friend, ordering a coffee and a egg and cheese croissant. It was extremely pricey for the portion size, but it was tasty over all. It is quite crowded, so it’s best to come in after peak times. My all-time favorite thing here is their plain croissants. If you come early in the morning, they’re naked fresh and still soft on the inside. They’re the best croissants I’ve had in this city. The chocolate croissants are good too. I’ve picked up pastries at other locations and didn’t quite find them as good, mostly due to them being hard and cold. However, for bread and parties I would recommend this location.

The cafe is intimate and friendly, and the food is fresh and innovative. It can be expensive, but their less expensive foods are just as delicious. Plus, they sell their day old goods half off.
