Still waiting in line for over an hour now. Haven’t even had the food yet, but no longer enthused. Currently there are 9 tables large enough for our group that are empty and yet to be cleaned, 2 of which have been empty for over 15 minutes, and yet we have to wait and wait? Probably just going to leave at this point. MAKE RESERVATIONS, but don’t count on them having tables ready for you.
I will make this simple. Pros: main food was good but nothing to write home about. I ordered the signature rib meal. Wasn’t bad but wasn’t great either to be a signature meal. Cons: HORRIBLE SERVICE! Waitress was rude and not friendly at all. Slammed open the menu to point out the sides when I forgot. Laughed in my in laws face when the asked if 7.00 was for a bottle of wine ( they are not big drinkers). She forgot my daughters drink twice and then forgot her food. The food took forever to get to our table. Salad had wilted warm lettuce , stale croutons. The place is very noisy. Hard to hold a conversation, and it wasn’t that busy. It’s a brewery, and just like other sites reviews, the beer was way warmer than it should of been. It tasted ok but it was not nearly as cold as a beer should be. We didn’t get any plates with our appetizers and when we asked , half of them were dirty and still had crusted food on them. The waitress could tell we were upset and became nice all the sudden! Sent over a few warm beers and I said no thanks. Overall it was a horrible dining experience. If I am ever in the area again, I will eat at a mcdonalds and get my own six pack at the beer store.
Service was terrible and the place was nearly empty. Food little below average but they charge NY prices. Beer is always good. Total tourist trap. Skip all food and just have a beer if you can tolerate poor service.
1/11/2014 Walked into this …. 1/11/2014Walked into this restaurant specifically to try out some microbrews. We were not greeted at all being our first time there. When we went to the bar to ask for a good beer, they directed us to the board rudely instead of suggesting anything. There was about 7 of us who were willing to pay good money to test out some microbrews. The bartender was extremely rude and took about 10 minutes to even wait on us. The place was not even that crowded. We tried to get samples to taste and she was annoyed to even be servering us. We left and we will never again try this brewery or restaurant when in the Poconos for skiing and/or golf.
Like it, Good burgers, Tasty beer. Went with the family one night and enjoyed it so much we went back the next night with a group of 16. Like the Golden beer. Steak salad was great and teenage son really liked the Hangover burger. Waitresses were good, attentive, kept drinks coming. There on a Friday night and atmosphere was good. Saturday had a band/singer and it was very loud. They did great with our party of 16. Were able to seat us all together and waitress didn’t bat an eye when we need separate checks. With the options in the Poconos as they are, Barley Creek is the best in our opinion.
On walking in the place seems really nice. I don’t know whether or not my experience was rogue, but either way it was terrible. I’ll begin by saying that our server did not know if their black bean soup was a vegetarian option, even upon questioning the kitchen. Nobody there knew anything about it and one server suggested it may have been poured from a can… So my poor girlfriend had to order the overpriced plain scampi, which had little taste save the over poured white wine. The dish was so poor she could not finish it. For myself, I ordered a simple burger medium rare. The burger came out well done and the bone was stale…Need I say much more? The fries were great and the beer was okay. That’s it.
Decent Beer. Average Food. Nice Place.. I had the opportunity to visit this establish only once. I felt the beer was decent. I tried their ale, it was okay. Not as crisp as I would have liked it to be but it was not horrible. Decent. I ordered the pulled sandwhich was better than I expected, but only average overall that was because I was expecting artisan chips and got ruffles. The building is amazing both inside and out. Someone spent a lot of money to build this facility. Overall, if you are in the Tannersville area looking for a place for lunch, I’d give the Barley Creek Brewing Company a try. It’s worth a visit.
