Family owned restaurant, very friendly service and delicious Authentic Mediterranean Food. Vegetarian friendly. This place is definitely the best in town.
Great Turkish food. I know Turkish food, and these people know what they are doing. From the delicious appetizers, to the the amazing entrees, to the unbeatable desserts, it is a find. The service is attentive, and I love to be able to bring my own wine or beer,Don;t worry if you are not familiar with the Turkish cuisine, the owners will help you to select a dish. Don;t miss this overlooked jewel in Shadyside. You will be pleasantly surprised.19 Mar, 2015Adana Kebab, Izmir Kofte, Iskender, and All the Appetizers. Very delicious, and authentic
Enjoyable Lunch. Over the holidays my husband and I went to Daphne Cafe for lunch. I left feeling a bit on the fence over whether I would return or not. We shared the appetizer platter with hummus (which was great!), baba ganoush (wasn’t my favorite), and a Mediterranean Dip (too sweet for me and tasted more like tomato paste than anything). I got the Mediterranean salad and added a kebob which ended up costing an extra $8 just for the added meat. It was written on the menu, so the fault was mine, but my salad ended up costing $16, which seems outrageous for a good (but not awesome) salad. The gyro was the real winner and the meat was thinly sliced and delicious. I had no trouble with the service and was even asked if we didn’t like the appetizer dips since we left most of uneaten. I explained the one was too sweet for my taste and was told that most people have a sweeter palate than how it would normally be made. I’m on the fence. If I was in the area, I might go back and give it a second chance.
Thank goodness!. Daphne was closed for a while after the big freeze burst pipes in the restaurant. They are up and running again, and the food is as good as ever. If you don’t know Turkish food, let these people introduce you to it. They make wonderful food and are great hosts.
Great food. The owner is very nice and makes you feel like family. Go for the special whole grilled fish dinner. Fresh. Delicious. Authentic Turkish.
Absolutely amazing food and service. Very affordable for the incredible experience overall.
Good Food, Terrible Service!. The food is very good! Lentil soup, hommus, fresh bread, panini. Everything is good and tasting, but the service is a disaster. I went there 2 times and there were only 2 people working in the restaurant (serving tables and making food) – If there are only 2 tables to serve, it ok… The waitresse (also the hostess), make part of the dishes like hommus and soup, which make everything slow… She sits people, bring drinks, take the order and make the food! Obviously she has no time to be nice! I only return because the food, but if you want to enjoy your meal, this is not your place!
