Had an amazing brunch here. Happy that I didn’t have to wait in line to eat, we were seated right away. First off the chorizo queso is amazing, much better than the normal queso you get at most Mexican restaurants. I had the fajita breakfast burrito and it was so filling and delicious. Everything was cooked perfectly and it was a great experience for a Sunday morning. The only thing I found lacking was their bloody Mary bar. I think other brunch places have spoiled me with their vast selection of bloody Mary toppers.
We were heading to the Apple Store and went over the the Steel Cactus for lunch. We thought the frozen raspberry margarita was very good. I had 3 tacos with rice and beans. The only thing a I thought could have been better was the rice. Everything else was pretty tasty! We would definitely go back in the future. I had the chorizo, pulled chicken and carnitas tacos yum…
On the plus side, the margarita was pretty good. Queso dip was average at best. Fish tacos (3), which did have a good flavor, probably had less than 2 oz. of fish in all. Meat tacos came on inedible corn shells. Waitress was nowhere to be found after food was dropped off.
Great Service!. I can’t say that I’ve ever had anything bad here but it’s just Mexican food after all. How good/bad can it be? What I want to call out is the service! Meghan is a server there and if there is a better server in the ‘Burgh I haven’t met them. You go girl!!
The food there is alright and the drinks are just okay. The wait staff are so so, I would give them a C+. But the food runners oh my stars to Liza are they great. The only reason I go to this place is to watch the bus boys clear tables. The short stalky guy with tattoos can carry so many plates it’s ridiculous. His passion for wiping down tables is next to nothing I have ever seen before. Get the chorizo queso too, that is all.
Used to be better…. When it first opened, it was running much more smoothly. The food was better prepared then as well. The last 3 times I’ve been there, quite disappointing. The last time was to drink on the rooftop bar. To say the service was horrendous is unfortunately quite the understatement. Literally standing at the bar, 6 of us trying to wave down the bartenders – between drinks was about 10-15min each time before they’d come back… and there’s only 20 seats at the bar with 3 bartenders!!!The food also used to be decent. Even last time the simple salsa and chips appetizer was disappointing with bought-from-the-store stale chipsManagement needs to step up and do their job; I’ve worked in 5 restaurants in my life and can tell you these types of issues stem from the top
Worst attempt at bad Mexican food EVER!. I’ve been here a few times for drinks, but the last time I went my friends and I decided to get food as well. The drinks were alright, nothing special. Service okay despite being hassled to give up our table the entire time. The food, however, was terrible. I mean, we weren’t ordering expecting great things from a Mexican restaurant in the midwest, but this food was exceptionally bad. The worst bad Mexican food I’ve ever had. There were whole, uncooked jalepenos in my burrito, which I choked on (I like spicy food, but I don’t want to chew uncooked jalepenos, I’m not a masochist). The rice was undercooked and crunchy, and the chicken was dry. Like I said, we weren’t expecting great things from a bar that serves Mexican food in Pittsburgh, but we were at least expecting the food to be edible. If you’re going to do bad, knockoff Mexican, at least try and do it well. Worst case scenario, you’re jalepenos will be cooked. If you end up going there for a drink, please, please save yourself and DON’T order any food.
