Breathtaking view and good cocktails. Staff weren’t that friendly and there are no powerplugs in the whole place! How is this supposed to be a fancy destination if we can’t even get a basic request?

R2L = Ready 2 Love. I highly recommend that before you make a reservation, you find the time for the sunset that day. ( You can find this on R2Ls website http://www.R2Lrestaurant.com ) Make the reservation for a half hour before sunset. You wont be disappointed with the view. Parking for R2L is just beyond the doorway to get in on 16th street. You can find it easily enough as there is a Krispy Kreme donut store just across the street from it. We reserved a booth for R2L on a Sunday evening an hour before sunset. The view we had was facing west, we could see the sun going down, and see 676 east west expressway. We ordered the grilled truffle flatbread to start off with a stella artois and diet coke. It was very good. The truffle and arugula went very well together. I only wished they had used a bit more. For our entrees we both ordered the 10 ounce filet mignon with peppercorn sauce and fingerling potatos. The filet was very good, and the peppercorn sauce wasnt over powering like some can be. The Fingerling potatos came on top of sauteed leeks. THe potatos were done just right so that their texture was crispy exterior with a creamy inside. When cut, and mixed with a piece of both meat and leek, they were fantastic. With the meal, we ordered a side of stuffed potato skins which were good, but their flavor was overpowered by the amount of smokiness within the bacon mixed in them. The service was very good as well. They kept our drinks topped off and took away our finished plates quickly. All in all I would definitely eat there again. Prepare to pay more because of R2Ls center city location. Its like eating at the Shore…location, location, location.

Great Night Out. I honestly recommend R2L to anyone looking for a great night out. I celebrated my birthday there, and it was good for a special occasion, but it would also be great for a more traditional night out. The staff was spectacular – I can’t say enough about them!

Worth the money. Everyone must try R2L at least once. The views are spectacular! We called on a Wednesday night for a reservation and asked for a window view. When we arrived, we had to wait several minutes for the staff to figure out where to seat us, however we were in no rush. The wait staff is incredibly helpful and they seemed genuinely interested in our well being. When we received our entrees, I must admit I was shocked at how small they were, but I could barely finish my three crab cakes and bowl of pureed potatoes. To top off the night, we received complimentary dessert from the chef, which was divine! I will definitely go back!

In response to Jim G. I am the General Manager and the person with whom your wife spoke the next day. The reason I called her was because my staff alerted me that you and your wife might not have been pleased with your experience. I actually was trying to invite you and your wife back in with my assurance of a more enjoyable experience. What I did try to explain is that we take how we treat window requests very seriously. On slower nights the requests are honored, quite simply, in the order in which they were received. On busier nights we must take into account the number of guests in the party and the size of the table that is available. Unfortunately your reservation was made within an hour of your arrival. So while it did appear that window tables were open we are actually holding them for other reservations. We do not like sitting people at these tables and telling them that they must be finished by a certain time. As for seating that way based on the server station…. We never, ever compromise our guest to appease a server and on that evening, in particular, it would not have mattered as the servers were pooling that section. Jim, in the end we take what we do very seriously and if we think a guest is unhappy we try as hard as we can to remedy any problem. Ultimately, if your wife had allowed me the opportunity, all I wanted was another chance with you guys. My offer to have you back in still stands…I hope you take me up on it! Chris 215.564.5337

There is a trend beginning to emerge with restaurant management. When things go poorly they come over and rationalize why there really isn’t a problem and then expect you to say it’s OK. This happened here to us. We had a 6PM reservation on a Monday night and the place was empty. They seated us at an interior table when there were several window tables available. We asked to be moved and the hostess said she would check. Who she checked with was the wait staff because we could hear them behind us. She came back and said no. So we sat at an interior table with window tables open all evening because the wait staff could not agree on how to work it out in terms of their turn. I think this is really poor and I mentioned it to a manager on the way out. He was completely indifferent. The next morning a manager called my wife at work and insisted that this didn’t happen and he told my wife that it was she who was unwilling to resolve the issue. He wanted her to say it was ok. She excused herself saying she had to get back to work and got off the phone.. I hope the management reads this because they need to know that NO, IT ISN’T OK. By the way the food really was not very good.
