Worst establishment in Pittsburgh. It may look nice, but the place itself was a p.o.s. Horrible food. Horrible service (not the servers fault just bad leadership) and the manager was a little prick. Eat at your own peril!
My husband and I went here because I was craving corned beef and cabbage. I chose Claddagh’s specifically because I wanted boiled potatoes instead of mashed (nothing against mashed but my craving was for boiled potatoes and most places in Pittsburgh do corned beef with mashed potatoes).I ordered the corned beef and cabbage. The corned beef was good, but I was surprised that the dish came with mashed potatoes when the menu said boiled. And the cabbage was weird. I am used to boiled cabbage with corned beef. But this was sauted? And it had a weird flavor like they had seasoned it with something strange. The potatoes were very thick and almost a little glue-y. The dish came with a side of mustard sauce which I ended up not using because HOLY MUSTARD BATMAN! I like mustard but this was a little too strong for me, although a little bit with cheese and crackers and pickles would probably be excellent. My husband, who is nota fan of corned beef unless it is sliced thin and on rye bread, got the clam chowder first. It was good, although it was served at room temperature, not hot. The bread that accompanied it was excellent. I don’t know what it was, maybe a honey oatmeal, but I would definitely eat the bread again. As an entre, he ordered the meatloaf with peppercorn sauce. The meatloaf also came with the very thick, ALMOST (but not quite) glue-y mashed potatoes. The meatloaf was good. It had a nice kick to it from the seasoning although I couldn’t really identify what the seasoning was. The peppercorn sauce was good as well. The service was good, they weren’t busy when we went and we were seated immediately. the server was attentive, and the food came out in a decent amount of time. Overall, it wasn’t a BAD experience, but it was kind of expensive, and for the prices I was a little underwhelmed by the food. If friends insisted on going here, I wouldn’t object, but I probably won’t be picking this place again any time soon.
Horrible food. Grease on top of too much cream. I might yak. Salad was old and limp. I’ve been there a few times and this last experience was the worst but all were sub par. Won’t be going again.
TERRIBLE. First my boyfriend and I waited at the front for 5 minutes before the host came. The place was dead. Then after she seated us she proceeded to sit in the back of the bar which led to another couple waiting in the front. Next it took our waitress 10 min to get to our table… Again the place was dead. Then we ordered the STUFFED pork chop which ended up being a dried out piece of pork with stuffing thrown on top of it. We clearly did not like the meal as it sat there and the waitress said nothing. I would never go back here again. I cannot imagine what this place is like when it is busy.
Pretty traditional Irish fair. Went with a party of 8 everyone seemed to enjoy there meals. Nice decor, albeit really noisy, which is pretty normal in an Irish pub, lol. The service was really really fast as in almost felt as if we were pushed thru a bit to fast. Will go back when beer is my main course and see how it feels. Lol
Dizzy Diner dinner groups pre-St. Patricks party. We were in charge for March to select a restaurant for our Dizzy Diner group. We thought it would be fun to do a Pre-St. Patrick’s dinner and we have enjoyed Claddagh many times. We did lunch to set up the group reservation and made contact with Rick who contacted Sabrina to make reservations and arrange for a back room which made it all the more private. Every one in our group came festively dressed and had a fun time and a delicious meal with a great waitress, Katie. Thanks for a great evening with I’m sure new customers.
Good time. I had the Irish Stew and my son had the fish and chips. Both were good and a decent portion. $5 drinks on a Sat night were also a deal. Would go back!! and if you have an enjoy coupon book there are in there for a BOGO
