Ordered the Filet Kabob. The food was above average but very overpriced – only 3 silver dollar sized cuts of filet on a bed of rice for nearly $20. Service was great except for that I could hear the chef in back screaming for the waitress to help him clean something even though she was with customers at the time. I see a lot of high reviews of this place so I’m inclined to give it a second chance, but only once I have a few extra bucks to burn. There are many better options for the price.

Lovely casual atmosphere and a nice waiter. Until he asked if I wanted cheese whizz on my Schwarma! Gross. Schwarma was more like grilled chicken, there served no halloumi cheese, and the tabouli was dry. Very sad. The hummus was fabulos, however.19 Jul, 2014Very casual environment, low key wait staff (who could be a little more attentive), and a mixed bag of food quality. The hummus was great, as was the pita bread and falafel; the fattoush salad was good, but not too flavorful; but all the meat my table ordered was very dry :(. I had the chicken tawouk, which was tough to the point where it was a struggle to cut and chew. The chicken shawarma was also dry, and lacked the unique flavor for which we love shawarma. The falafel we ordered was probably the best part of the meal- not dry at all like some falafel can be. I highly recommend. Also, it should be noted that the restaurant serves PROVOLONE and AMERICAN cheese. Definitely not a good blend with Middle Eastern cuisine.

Favorite falafel. Real chill atmosphere. Very good waitress every time I’m there. She’s always by herself during lunch rush and handles herself very well. The hummus is always good and the falafel is my favorite in Pittsburgh.

It’s an Old Gem. I used to eat at Kassab’s all the time in my 20’s and went here again recently after a long break. I forgot how much I loved that food. Their gyros are so different than every other gyro in the city and that was my favorite thing for years. Now that I’m getting older and more open, I could become a vegetarian if I could eat at Kassab’s every day. The loobyeh has to be one of my favorite veggie dishes in town. I didn’t think I was a tabbouli fan, but apparently, at Kassab’s I’m a huge fan. The service is great. I’ll be taking more field trips to the South Side now that it’s back on my radar.

Mixed feelings overall but good food. I eat here regularly, but not as often as I would if the items weren’t so expensive — it is oddly overpriced. Food is delicious, but the atmosphere and service do not justify the cost. Atmosphere is strange, seems to be a lot of staff turnover — if the food weren’t so good, I am sure they would be out of business. But it really is THAT good. Worth a try — you will probably get hooked and then have the same complaints!

Love Kassab’s!. We have been going there since before they changed locations. I can honestly say that I have never once had a bad dining experience there. So much good food to choose from that we usually end up with tons of leftovers because we couldn’t go there and not get this or that. Also, this is one of the only places in the world that I actually enjoy chicken. Everywhere else chicken is just blah but at Kassab’s it is truly phenomenal!

You won’t be disappointed. Kassab’s has something for everyone and it won’t break the bank. I’ve been a number of times and have never been disappointed. Their sleek, stuffed grape leaves, lebanese salad and tabbouli, among numerous others, are fantastic. Service is also fast.
