Food was delicious and the service was friendly and quick. We ordered the barbacoa and lengua dinners and were pleasantly surprised at how well seasoned the food was. Most Mexican restaurants have no flavor or seasoning especially with the rice and beans. Everything was very authentic and just as described…tender, fall apart meat. We will definitely be returning. The styrofoam containers don’t really do the food justice but I wanted to include pictures anyway.

In my limited experience with Mexican food this was by far the best I ate. Their entre selection is spot on (don’t forget to ask for the specials). On another occasion I also ate Tacos from one of their food trucks which was delicious as well.

Stopped by here for lunch because I was in the mood for Mexican. Ordered the chicken quesadilla and the sweet potato fries. The quesadilla was good, lots of chicken but no cheese (I didn’t realize I needed to specify cheese as a filling I wanted although it was an option on the menu, that’s a my bad). The chicken was very good though. Very mild. I’m not normally one for spicy, but I kind of wish I had taken the servers suggestion of hot sauce when I got my food to go (again, that’s a my bad). The guacamole was excellent, with chunks of avocado. They definitely didn’t cheap out on making it.The sweet potato fires were excellent. So many places add sugar to sweet potato fires which I think is unnecessary (they are called SWEET potatoes for a reason, they already are pretty sweet).I like my fries super salty so I probably would have added more salt but that’s a personal thing, and the fries were tasty even without the added salt. I will definitely be stopping by this place again, although I don’t think I will ever be brave enough to try the beef tongue.

The food smells bad, They charged us for the chips and salsa which is free everywhere, the meat was overcooked and the whole place deserve less than 1.

I’m feeling a little conflicted about this restaurant. Let me preface my review by saying I’m a native Texan and grew up eating real, authentic Mexican food. The food here is pretty authentic. I’d say it’s in the top tier of authentic Mexican food in Pittsburgh. My issue is with the flavor/spice level of the food. There was no spiciness. None. On a spicy scale from 1-5, it was a zero. I don’t necessarily want to hold that against the restaurant. My hunch is that they’re doing what the market demands they do…most places I’ve gone in Pittsburgh aren’t filled with spicy food. That’s just the north/northeast for you. So I don’t want to say the chefs don’t know the food is lacking spice…I think if you asked, they’d help you out.I had tacos and a quesadilla and my wife had enchiladas. It was fairly authentic…we both enjoyed the food (if you overlook that it had no spiciness). We also had the chips and guacamole (on the advice of the server). It was okay…would love to try the queso too (I wanted that but the server said the guac was his choice). This is a smaller restaurant. We walked in at 11:30 and there was no one else in the place. So our service was great. By the time our food came (maybe 10 minutes later), every table was full. There was only one waiter…he was working his tail off…but one waiter for 5-10 tables is still a bad ratio. But, he did make it around at a good pace. Food came out quick and was good.Overall, it’s probably one of the more authentic Mexican places in Pittsburgh. I’ll go back again…I’ll just make sure to ask them to turn the spiciness up a few degrees next time. And, if they do and it’s good, I promise I’ll bump up my rating 🙂
