Since I stopped eatin’ pork over 25yrs ago there were some things I thought I would never get to taste again… a bacon double cheese burger bein’ one of them and pepperoni & sausage pizza bein’ amongst the others. Well a couple years ago I found out that Sal’s doesn’t serve any pork at all… so to me that fact that I can eat (beef) peperoni’s & (beef) sausage on a pizza again is tremendous… and is another one of those comfort foods for me just like a good cheesesteak. That bein’ said, they also have the NY/Philly stylebig slice, flat, crusty dough that I like. But with that, it has to be cooked just right because I had 1 pie from there that was slightly over done, and it made the cheese rubbery n the crust hard. Other than that… Sal’s gets 2 thumbs up for me on the strength of no pork alone. I had a slice of pep and a slice ofpep&sausage the other nightbefore I ate a cheesesteak. I was goin’ thru somethin’ that day… don’t judge me!Plus they’re open on Christmas & Christmas Eve., whenthe whole city is shut down. Saved us from starvin’ a couple times, yo!
