Food is very reasonably priced especially for being on the south side. Portions I received were good. Had fish and chips, chicken bap with provolone and bacon and Mac and cheese. Also the surf and turf. First the breading on the fish was very good. The fish was done perfectly. Very tasty. The chicken had awesome breading as well and the seasoning blend was perfect. The Mac and cheese could have been good but it may have been sitting all day. It was about 9pm. However the food took forever and the service was less than stellar. Over heard the cook and other guy talking about having cottonmouth so the slow service made sense. All in All I will go back for the food. FoodFather Approved!!
Had the Steak and gravy Boxty Tot Boxes. Having never been to the British Isles, can’t comment on the authenticity but it was tasty. It was also a humongous portion, way too much for me to eat by myself (although my husband could have probably finished it). The boxty itself was interesting, little balls that seemed to be a combo of diced and mashed potatoes, deep fried. The staff was friendly and while the place was kinda busy, they kept things moving so the wait wasn’t terribly long.I definitely want to go back and try the fish and chips since that’s what they are known for.*Updated So I went back and tried the fish. It was AMAZING! I was a little surprised that it was haddock and not cod since everyone in Pittsburgh seems to do cod but it was hot and yummy and greasy and just what you want out of fried fish.
Great little spot on the Southside. A taste of Great Britain. The fish and chips are excellent, as is the White Chapel sandwich. prices are good and staff are friendly. I need to check out the rest of the menu.
Chicken Bap. The best chicken sandwich I ever ate. With a touch of HP sauce.
Outstanding. Best fish and chips I’ve had in a long, long time. Perfect white, flaky haddock and superbly cooked chips. Nothing bad to say about it – what a meal!
Cool place for a quick lunch or dinner. You get a lot of food- so come hungry. Fish and Chips are wonderful- but the Irish Boxtys- wow! I could eat those everyday. Check it out if you haven’t already.
Service was great as was the seafood chowder! If ever in Pittsburgh again I will def go back but will split a fish n chips order. Hubby and I both ordered our own and there were enough fries for 3-4 pple in one order! Lived in england for several years and this place is pretty darn to close to authentic, but they are very greasy! Not something I could eat regularly! Very good all the same!
