Terrible service. We walked in and there were two waitresses at the counter counting something. One of them looked up at us blankly and just walked away. Seriously? I dont know if she was having a bad night, but it’s common sense and basic hospitality that you acknowledge and attempt to seat guests that walk into a restaurant. So we sat down for a minute or two waiting to be seated, thinking she’d return. She didn’t, and we left to go to a restaurant that actually wanted to provide service. Very unpleasant experience, terrible service.
Best sushi in Pgh
Superior sushi. Very well prepared sushi. Chaya is a quiet, clean, bright, pleasant place to have a delicious, freshly prepared meal. People who appreciate Japanese cuisine will not be disappointed. The service is attentive and friendly. I had the eel and cucumber salad, and it was excellent. The fried chicken bits included with the dinner seem like an odd choice. They are fine, but I don’t understand why fried food is included in a sushi dinner, so I order a la carte. BYOB.
The sushi is amazing! The service leaves something to be desired. We usually have a lovely dining experience from start to finish, yet this last time was tarnished by a flustered, harried hostess/manager? The staff is usually very competent and in step with the chef’s pace, rhythm and karma. This person was off the charts in a panic for no apparent reason. She rushed our otherwise calm and enjoyable dining experience, especially at the check payment time, which seemed grasping and eradicated the lovely pace the rest of the staff seemed to honor throughout the entire dinner. This hostess? ruined what should have been a lovely sushi dinner by acting like she was in a supermarket sweep with 5 seconds on the clock. Yikes!
Love this place. This is my favorite sushi place in Pittsburgh. I’ve always had great service here. The sushi tastes fantastic. I’ve loved everything I’ve tried and it’s probably the most authentic sushi place in Pittsburgh.
Food was good. Nothing really special, but service and price were great.
Love this spot. We love this spot for over 7 years. The dinners are great. Since the move the sushi just has too much rice. Since they moved locations, the maki rolls have cheapened. But we feel with the feedback we have given, they will come back to the quality we are used to. The service is excellent!
