Awesome. A group of four stopped today after looking yins up on the internet. I’m glad first of all I only ordered a cup of soup, it was Giant! and just what the doctor ordered. The Classic Rubin sandwich and potato latkes were also palate pleasing. Well worth the visit !
Yummy and different. I was impressed. I started with a watermelon spritzer and poutine, both were great. Then I moved onto a brisket on challah. Also great. I was impressed with the authenticity and the quality in such a small space. Will definitely be coming back.
Best Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich I ever had.. I first visited this restaurant when I visited Pittsburgh with my son on a college visit. We visited the Squirrel Hill area and this establishment looked interesting. It was so good we actually went out of our way coming home from Cooperstown on vacation to visit again. On this same trip we also were in Montreal and went to the Mecca of Montreal Smoke Meat; Schwartzs. I really enjoyed Schwartzs, but I thought Nus sandwich was superior. It was more tender, moister with a better taste. For those who dont know what Montreal Smoked meat is, well its sort of a hybrid between corned beef and pastrami. My sandwich at Nus was better than any corned beef or pastrami sandwich that I have ever had, period. One of my sons had the brisket and he was equally impressed. The soups are just about as good as the sandwiches. I had the Mish Mash soup (Matzo Ball, Kreplach and noodles). The Mish Mash soup was a meal in itself. I love mish mash soup and have had many times at different restaurants. Nus mish mash soup rivals some of the best. If you are a fan of Jewish delis you will not be disappointed!
Excellent!. This is a nice concept by the Pamela folks. I had the Upstreet dip & my girlfriend had the kosher hot dog. Our server was prompt, giving us our drinks immediately, and walked us through the menu. It took only a few minutes for our orders to come out. The brisket was perfectly cooked and the au jus complimented the sandwich very well. I highly recommend this place to anyone.
Taste of New York!. I am happy to be a transplanted New Yorker…not being a multi-millionaire.Nu outdoes the deceased Rhoda’s and Kazanky’s.The best mushroom barley I have ever eaten…and I make a pretty goodone myself.A wonderful Montreal Meat sandwich. And amazing service! (No, I don’t go out go out for the service, but poor service can spoil a meal…and good service is rare enough to be a joy.If this is your kind of food, go!
Staff training needed. A friend and I dropped in for lunch. No ambience but it’s a caf basically. I ordered their variation on a Reuben – in pastry instead of on rye bread – which was tasty enough, though it came with coleslaw, not sauerkraut (there was sauerkraut in the pastry; that seemed an odd combination) . My friend ordered the chicken soup, penicillin, which she said was OK but not special. She also ordered the blintzes, which didn’t appear. When she questioned the server, it turned out she’d forgotten, in the couple of yards from our table to the hatch, to order them. They came out late but there was no charge for them so we’d have been OK with the whole place except for the last couple of minutes. As I waited for my friend to return from the restroom, the cook called the server to take a plate. As she walked over, she wiped her nose on the back of her hand, wiped her hand on her apron and picked up the plate with the same hand. If I’d felt there was a serious health hazard, I’d have said something there and then. As it was, it was just kind of yukky.
