Awesome restaurant. Squirrel Hill is home to dozens of restaurants, many of which I have tried, most of which I love. Rose Tea Caf is something special!!! AmAzing pan fried noodles that my hubs ordered that will definitely NOT disappoint; the serving is very generous with lots of meat and veggies! My supremely picky-eater son devoured the braised chicken. The sauce on the chicken is similar to sweet and sour, but abundantly flavorful, the skin is sticky and crisp. His dish came with a marinated egg, which my two-year-old could not get enough of. The bubble teas are an obvious choice and are a must-get. Love this place
Service is is so rough and poor. The service is not really good is so rough and poor. The portions that you’re paying much money for is rather on the small side, and the food come out really greasy and lot of MSGIt is true, the quality of this place has gone down, for the past I would rate a 4.5 but now a mere one. The ambiance isnt something you look forward to, there isnt much to place your eyes on. Come here only when you want simple Taiwanese food, otherwise, don’t bother.
Bad service. Ignored our request even we already raised hand.
Just had a delightful dinner here! Joyce waited on us and she was great! Super sweet, friendly and helped us order with several recommendations. And her choices were spot on! They were out of the Spicy Napa appetizer so she recommended the Scallion Pancake w/egg. Yum! Then besides the Taiwanese Chunk Chicken I knew I wanted from reading reviews she suggested the Hot Pepper Beef or on the menu called the Shredded Beef w/Chinese Hot Pepper. My, my, my everything was fantastic. A great mix of flavors. My husband and I couldn’t have been happier! We’ll return again and again!! Don’t understand why folks say they’re unfriendly…Joyce and Peter were as nice as could be! The food was superb!!
Good Food / Unfriendly Service. The food here was really good. We ordered the chunk chicken and kimchi fried rice. It was delicious. We tried to ask the waitress questions and she was not friendly at all. We were the only patrons in the place so she had time to chat she just didn’t care to. We tried to ask questions about the menu and she walked away during mid sentence. My husband had to go get her to get our check. She was on her iPad and couldn’t be bothered. Its a shame that the service was so bad and we probably will not go back because the food was really good.
Best chinese in town. OK, Taiwanese food – not traditional mainland style cuisines but the best Chinese in Pittsburgh. We don’t go anywhere else. Get the three cup chicken or country style ribs. Adventurous types may try the stinky tofu or intestine dishes. Go in the off hours as it will get crazy crowded. Good bubble tea. Fast service which please impatient wife. My mom is from Taiwan and she approves. We’ve been going for years now – they’ve gone a little downhill but still worth the trip.
String beans with garlic sauce. I love this restaurant. I always get the String Beans with Garlic sauce, with Lychee bubble tea. The spicy pepper tofu is great too, but quite spicy. Basil tofu is also pretty delicious!
