Poor food and service. Overall bad experience. Sushi was ok, kung pao shrimp was overloaded with green peppers. The shrimp had a bad taste and foul aroma. They also use baby shrimp. Will not return and certainly will not recommend.

We really like this place! Food is good, and it seems that a lot of it is handmade/from scratch. I would also like to mention right off the bat, that this place is GLUTEN FREE FRIENDLY!!! They have GF soy sauce, an are always helpful and friendly when you ask questions. I also LOVE their lunch sushi specials–good sushi (simple but delicious) and great price! We recommend giving this place a try.

Delicious hidden treasure. I have to admit, that I’ve often passed Sakura by on the way to other restaurants in the neighborhood despite there menu boards advertising a variety of tasty sounding items. The restaurant at first glanced seemed to be doing too many things at once. Offering kitchen-cooked Hibachi, sushi, and authentic Chinese cuisine. I didn’t try the hibachi, but they do the Chinese and sushi right! Absolutely perfect! I had the spicy fish lunch. The flavor was superb! In my opinion, its a Sichuan style dish, that is prepared better than either of the two Sichuan restaurants in the neighborhood. Furthermore, the portion is generous, and price cheap! I also had a california roll wich was fresh, and just as good as any restaurant–grade roll i’ve had. This is going to be my new go to place for lunch, and perhaps dinner as well! Thanks Sakura!

Sushi no, chinese cuisine maybe.. When talking sushi in pittsburgh, sakuri rates very low in our opinion. The same sauce is used on every roll and drowns the sushi. All the rolls end up tasting the same and the fish can’t even be distinguished. Also, there is entirely too much rice. The Chinese menu you have to ask for is a 5 out of 10 . For price point, Plum is much better & fresher. The staff is very friendly and should be commended.

Pretty good. I’ve always had great service here. The food is good, but the sushi isn’t the best I’ve had. dumplings are good, but I’ve had to ask for ponzu sauce to dip them in. The people that work here are very sweet. Overall good experience

Best Japanese & Chinese Food in Pittsburgh!. Try their Amazing Fire Roll and GGodzilla Roll! Try their Fried Rice — best Fried Rice in town! Their cold spicy fish melt in your mouth. Their dumplings were home made — no one can beat that taste!!! Their Kung Pao Chicken and General Tzao’s Shrimp taste so good… you actually can’t wait to go back for another delicious meal. If you want a hot pot, you need to pre-order: because the chef made everything on the same day — fresh!!! They have the best dry noodles, noodle soups in town! Price is amazingly inexpensive: for example, dumplins are only $3.50 for 12!!! Can’t beat that price!

Mixed bag. So, sushi wise, it’s all right. It’s not bad, but it isn’t anything I’d write home about. It feels like it should taste good because the ambiance is nice, or at least nicer than other sushi joints in the area (I’m looking at you, Sushi Boat), but don’t mistaken that for excellent fish. Again, it’s not bad, but I would only come here if I needed a sushi fix and not if I was looking for the best sushi in Pittsburgh. Go to Chaya for that and pay the extra dineros. It’s obvious that Sakura is owned by Chinese people – they have Chinese specials written on the chalkboard outside their establishment. However, I didn’t have any of their Chinese cuisine until recently. Yes, they have a secret Chinese menu for real Chinese people. They are of the Sichuan pervasion, much like their neighbor How Lee. They have a hot pot selection, which is awesome. An entire section of the exclusive menu is written in Chinese, so I’d recommend bringing someone who is actually Chinese with you to eat.I think the Chinese food is much better than the Japanese food here, but it’s only if you can get to it. If anything, just order the beef dumplings (3.50 for 12, and they’re pretty darn good) and have a few Sapporos at the bar.
