Terrible service on weekends. Silky’s is decent (just decent) on weekdays and during the day on weekends, but the service in the evening on weekends is awful. Our waitress – Kayla – brought us the wrong beers multiple times; food orders took literally more than an hour to arrive; one food order was just forgotten all together. Overall, service was abysmally slow, and Kayla herself was unpleasant and unprofessional – sullen, even. I was surprised by how aggressively bad she was at her job.On the plus side, we bonded with the tables next to us over what an terrible experience it was, so there’s that.
Fun neighborhood place with good food at reasonable prices. Service can be a bit slow.
No Love On A Sunday Night…. Recently, I had family in town (I live a few miles away). We sat at at table near the bar and had ordered food and drinks from our server (who was a nice girl). We were playing the shuffleboard table and my brother went to the bar to order a drink with my sister. The man behind the bar was someone who I had seen before and he was rude to my siblings about how we needed to order the drinks from our server. This didn’t make sense to us because he served my brother and not my sister. We also heard him yell to our sever to add my brother’s drink to our bill. A little bit later our server seemed upset and we were worried that he may have been rude to her, too. We were there to have a good time but the customer service was upsetting. Even if we needed to order drinks from the sever, the man behind the bar could have been a bit more tactful and nice. There is a way in which people can say things and communicate which is the proper and respectful thing to do,
Squirrel Hill Staple. Silky’s IS Squirrel Hill. This place is practicially a landmark. What’s most suprising is how good their food is. Now I’m not talking wings and nachos, but actual entrees. Ok heres a story. My girlfriend and I were going to the Murray Ave Grill, also a great place, but due to the wait we decided on Silky’s. Let me tell you we’ve never gone there for an actual dinner, just drinks and apps, so I didnt know what to expect but being hungry I didnt really care. I looked at their specials of the night, and came accross their meatball/hot sausage penne. It came with choice of soup, and I went with french onion. I was suprised there was no up-charge for french onion since thats typical. When the pasta came out I was shocked at how large the portion was. It was accompanied with a side of garlice bread. I certainly was stuffed at the end of the meal, and the price was quite reasonable. Don’t let the bar atmosphere scare you, Silky’s is a good place to eat regardless fo the occasion.
Good food, pretty good service. Silky’s is quintessential PUB FOOD. It’s greasy and fried and good. Their waffle fries are awesome. I also recommend the Buffalo Chicken Wrap. The beer prices are very reasonable. There are lots of tvs there, so if you’re into sports (which I find common in Pittsburgh) you’ll like that that seem to have several different sporting events on at any given time. I like the variety of seating options, too : booths, high top tables, upstairs and downstairs bar, low tables. The bathrooms are a little bit middle school of the 80s feeling, but overall, I recommend this place.
Nasty. The dirty bars are not unusual for sq hill but this one is plain filthy.don’t try the restroom.i wonder if they ever wash their hands. I will never go back
A Good Sports Bar. Silky’s is your pretty typical sports bar with a great selection of draft beers, I would say about 15 of most which being micros or specialty beers. The food was your average pub grub and it was all prepared very well. I had buffalo chicken tenders, the sauce was very good, and my friend ordered (and ate the entire) 1 lb. burger. He said it was a great, well cooked burger. They have drink specials every night, last night (Monday) was $1.50 domestics. You can’t beat a $1.50 Yueng. Overall we liked this place and will definitely be back.
