Love their Matza ball soup (although its not quite as good as mine). My husband adores their corned beef sandwich. And I can definitely recommend the brisket and the latkes. My only complaint is that they need to open one of these in the south hills area… please?

Great Deli!. My family and I had been going to the strip district location for years and when this location popped up we were thrilled because we had a go to place to eat before or after seeing a movie at the manor theatre. I always order the same thing and it is amazing every time-I order a turkey rachel on sourdough instead of rye. Their matzo ball soup, while not as great as my mom’s matzo ball soup, is very good too. My mom loves their corned beef and my dad is a fan of their roast beef. Overall, this is a great place to grab a quick sandwich.

Soup & Sandwich. I have eaten here quite a few times and have always gotten a decent meal. The chicken soups are very good. The sandwiches are done well.I do agree that the green salads (per-prepared) are a bit tired.Go for the S&S and you will do fine. The ambiance is indeed weird …. but I like it!

Not Great but the Best There is. The Smallman Sreet Deli on Murray Avenue is probably the most authentic Jewish deli in Pittsburgh. It is admittedly not the greatest deli in the world but the last Jewish deli in Squirrrel Hill (the bagel place on Forbes is terrible). You can get smoked whitefish, chopped liver, kugel and kasha with varishkas plus the usual smoked deli meats (albeit packaged and not homemade). If you want more authentic. Jewish deli go to the kosher mart next door but it is all takeout. I have never had bad service but I try never to go during lunch hour or when there is a crowd. But I must admit they serve a very good deli breakfast – go about 9:00 am, sit in the outdoor area and enjoy. Also I recommend buying their corned beef by the pound, a half loaf of New York rye, some Cole slaw and take it home. If you do not like Smallman Street you have few other option in present day Pittsburgh.

This is the first place I ate at in Pittsburgh, and I still go back all the time. I’ve never had anything that wasn’t just right!
