Too pricey. I stumbled upon this place when I was on my way for a falafel at The Greek Gourmet just up the street. I always insist on trying new things, so I stopped in after my lunch. I was unfamiliar with the majority of the offerings, but the owner was very friendly and quick to recommend some customer favorites and tell us a little about them. Most of what I got was actually very good, but I could not believe the cost when she rung everything up. I suppose there is a reason nothing had price tags on it. I might stop in again to buy one cookie or something as an after dinner treat, but that’s about it.
Great Red-Bean Surprises. This place is the best. We came upon this great little cakery by accident. How lucky we were! The red-bean buns were the best. Not too sweet. Just right; very fresh. You must try the red-bean with shaved ice for desert. It will make you forget your ice cream sundaes. I just could’nt believe how good that was!! Trust me. Its worth the $6.50. Share this most delicious desert with someone. Theres alot there!
Finally!. Pittsburgher’s need to know how lucky they are to have a Korean ‘cakery’ in our midst. Not only do they make great buns such as coffee cream and red bean, but they are made quite professionally. Its a cute little bakery, and lends itself to Squirrel Hill’s other Korean establishments such as the grocery on Forward and Green Pepper restaurant further up on Murray. Glad they are here, and Sumi’s Cakery is the best addition yet!!
Some of the finest and lightest sweets. Sumi’s Catery, a labor of love for Korean native Sumi Chun, offers some of the finest, lightest sweets. Showing authenticity, Chun provides patrons with fruit-and-cream cakes plus tiny treats, too. If you’re dying to place an order, Chun requests that you give her advanced notice (at least two days) to ensure that she can whip up the perfect creation for you.
