Good food when they have it.. Love all the food there, just seems like they’re out of a lot of items every time I go. Also their tea is way, way too sweet.Despite all this, it’s still where I go for dim sum because it’s got a lot of unusual dishes like turnip cake, watercress dumplings, and chicken feet.
Disappointing. I had been to Sun Penang several times and like it. But I went on 21st September to celebrate my birthday, and was very disappointed. The rendang sapi was very bad. The meat was nothing but gristle and fat, the sauce was NOT rendang at all, and all in all it was a very disappointing meal. I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Malaysia, so I know what rendang should be. This was NOT rendang.
A bit too sweet for me…. I wen to Sun Penang for Dim Sum, but the Dim Sum there is not very good. Maybe I am too picky since I love the ones I tried in Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Also, the Pad Thai was rather too sweet for me. The taste was not at all similar to the Thai Restaurant I tried in Singapore, which was really tasty.
The service was slow, the chicken was dry. A complete FAIL. Two giant thumbs down ! I’m never going back. Ever.
Went with some friends for the first time and was pleasantly surprised at the good dim sum available there. Used to live in Chicago and go for dim sum when visiting LA and I find Sun Penang’s offerings comparable. The Malaysian dishes were quit good as well. Good place to get your dim sum fix locally.
Awesome. This place is packed with all kinds of oriental food from thai to chinese food. Its absolutely a taste quencher kind of place. I love ordering family style so everyone gets to try different dishes at the same time,
