Had a cheesesteak hoagie and fries. Nothing special about it. Bread was too thick. Steak wasn’t properly seasoned. Processed shoestring fries were blah. Despite it being around 3ish and very few customersm the resaurant could’ve used a nice cleaning. Service was fast and personable. Probably won’t eat there again unless they switch to fresh cut fries and stop using what looks like steakums.
This establishment location needs diversity training. Only this location. ALL of the other locations where I’ve eaten were cool and you can see the diversity within their employees of different races. The Waterworks location is a fun place to dine, especially at lunchtime. The cooks and other helps have me LOL everytime I sit and eat. Funny as hell but still very respectful and professional in the process. Can’t say the same about this Sq. Hill one. You can read my review in the Waterworks location reviews. It’s self explanatory about this topic in general.
Forget Primanti’s, this is the best sub in Pittsburgh. Although Primanti’s is the Pittsburgh go to sandwich and what tourists go for, the local king is easily Uncle Sam’s. They have about four locations, and the food is very consistent in all locations, which is a big plus and is different from Primanti’s and the O (originals are great, the suburbs? not so much) The steak hoagie is quite simply the best I ever had anywhere. The italian is top notch as well. Plus, they give you free fries, and they are also very well done (if you take into consideration they are free, then they are awesome). One of the few sub shops I go out of may way to go to when I crave a great sandwich.
Love this place!. I have had their cheese steak in many variations, and their veggie subs as well. Each and every one was delicious! Also their bread is always soft and tasty. i have never been let down by uncle Sam! Affordable and sooo good.
Great Subs. Probably the best cheese steak you’ll find in Pittsburgh. I enjoy all of their locations. I do not enjoy their cash-only policy, however.
Better than I expected. I’m not totally sure why, but this place is amazing. I thought it looked really average before I tried it, but the food beat my expectations by far. I’m vegetarian, and they have 5 or 6 different veggie subs that are real vegetarian subs, not meat subs hold-the-meat. The veggies are cooked really well, the bread is fluffy, crispy, and fresh, and everyone I know who has tried them falls in love. If you eat in, you get free fries too. A lot of them. The sweet potato fries are also worth trying. I usually only eat half the sub and save the other half for dinner so I can savor it for longer. The staff is also friendly and has joked around with me before after I ordered food.
